About
Just as no two people are alike, the pathway to recovery is different for everyone. I am a big believer in meeting a patient where they are at and helping them decide on and move towards the next steps to wellness, on their own terms.
Lance Pritchard is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Lance is passionate about helping people identify and conquer the obstacles that stand in the way of them achieving the wellness and stability that they are striving for. He specializes in addictions, anxiety, depression, grief, and stress. After working in substance abuse treatment facilities for most of his career, Lance has accumulated a lot of experience working with folks struggling with addictions and the associated mood, relational, and other issues that frequently go along with that.
Lance completed his Master of Science (MS) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Southern Adventist University in beautiful Collegedale, TN. He has a great deal of experience using behavioral interventions like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), as well as integrating motivational interviewing and some solution-focused ideas into his therapeutic work. Lance brings a combination of real-world experience and technical knowledge to the table in a way that helps his clients feel heard, understood, and cared for. He emphasizes creating lasting change through identifying and changing negative beliefs that a client may have about themselves, the world around them, and their own ability to interact with that environment.
Lance will work with you to amend impaired thinking, change negative behaviors, and to develop a meaningful spiritual connection with a higher power of your own understanding. Maintaining a sense of wellness or making lasting positive change in your life is difficult even when things are going well around you. When you consider the amount of turmoil and chaos present in our society today, it is causing people who would normally be very functional and stable to struggle and falter under the pressure. This environmental stress also hurts those who may already be struggling with mental health or addiction issues, causing these conditions to worsen. This is nothing to be ashamed of, but also not something to be ignored. Lance doesn't have any magical answers, and doesn't promise that things will suddenly get easier; but he has the experience, empathy, and compassion to help you on the next leg of your journey to wellness. If you are looking for someone to empathetically walk with you through your current struggles, and to help you navigate upcoming hurdles as well, you are welcome to schedule an appointment with Lance today!

With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.
Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.
There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your specific needs and with whom you can form a professional connection with.
Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.
Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.
At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.
In 1972, Stanford and UCLA simulated a therapy session on the computer for the first time ever. Today, this is referred as the very start of online counseling. Online self-help groups, mental health hotlines, and “Ask Abby” discussions made their rounds on the internet. And they are still very much alive today, but there is another prominent form of online mental health help: online counseling.
Online counseling is pretty self-explanatory. It’s working with a counselor in an online environment, such as over the phone or video. This is the big difference between the traditional in-person counseling approach and the online counseling approach. Both types of therapy prove effective and are valuable options if you’re looking for mental health services.
Success as a therapist is not found in doing something for the client, but rather in being someone for the client. –Ili Rivera Walter
Thriveworks Tennessee has seen an important need for online counseling. In fact, many people prefer online counseling to in-person counseling as the world evolves. For example, our clients enjoy the comfort and the convenience that online counseling can offer them. They don’t have to worry about rushing to the office to make it to their appointment in time; they don’t have to worry about sitting in traffic and running late. Online counseling makes counseling easier, and in some cases, offers greater benefits. If you are weighing your counseling options, consider online counseling at Thriveworks Tennessee. We have counselors who can meet with you via phone or video now.
You might feel intimidated by this new counseling option, but it’s simple! Both telephone counseling and video counseling only require a simple device—such as a phone or computer—that allows you to call into your sessions. In addition, you’ll need internet access as well. Once you’ve checked those two boxes, you’re all set to meet with your online counselor!
Telephone counseling and video counseling could both be viable options for you. You’re welcome to try both option out and see which you prefer. Or, maybe you already know that you’d prefer one over the other. For example, you might prefer video counseling if…
Or, on the other hand, you might prefer telephone counseling if you’d rather not meet with your counselor “face-to-face,” would like a greater degree of anonymity, or you’re looking for the absolute most flexible form of counseling.
An online counselor can help you in much the same way as an in-person counselor. The virtual environment does not serve as a barrier to working through hard problems and making meaningful progress in counseling. In fact, some people find that online counseling empower them to make greater, quicker progress than in-person counseling because they feel more comfortable talking to their counselor from home or via an online medium.
If your mental health and/or emotional wellbeing are suffering as a result of any of the following, an online counselor at Thriveworks Tennessee Counseling can help:
