About Provider

About Mary

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor–Mental Health Service Provider with over 26 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through life’s emotional and relational challenges. I specialize in helping clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and codependency. My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative, empowering clients to develop insight, self-awareness, and emotional balance while fostering personal growth and resilience.

I hold a Doctorate in Psychology from North Central University. I integrate cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, and relational approaches, creating a safe space for emotional exploration and healing. My goal is to help clients strengthen boundaries, improve relationships, and develop lasting tools for wellness.

I believe healing begins when you feel truly understood. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, or life transitions, you don’t have to face it alone. Together, we can explore what’s been holding you back and build new pathways toward peace, confidence, and authentic connection.

Get to know Mary

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

My own life experiences taught me the importance of emotional healing, self-awareness, and having someone who truly listens. Those experiences sparked a deep desire to help others find hope and clarity in their own lives. I became a counselor because I understand how transformative it can be to have support during difficult seasons—someone to walk beside you as you rediscover your strength, purpose, and peace. Helping others heal and grow isn’t just my career; it’s my calling.

What types of clients do you work best with?

Adults who struggle with stress, anxiety, depression, and developing life coping skills, whether stemming from childhood trauma, alcohol use to cope, or navigating the challenges of aging.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

One thing I wish all clients knew is that healing is not a straight line — it’s a process of growth, awareness, and self-compassion. There will be moments of progress and moments that feel challenging, but every step is meaningful. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” who you are; it’s about understanding yourself more deeply, learning to give yourself grace, and developing the tools to live with greater peace and authenticity. True change happens when we learn to trust the process and stay open to the journey.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

In our first session, clients can expect a comfortable, welcoming space where we begin by getting to know each other and discussing what brought them to therapy. I take time to understand their goals, background, and current challenges, while also explaining how the therapy process works and answering any questions they may have.

During the early stages of therapy, we’ll work together to build trust and clarity, identifying patterns, setting realistic goals, and exploring strategies that foster emotional growth and healing. Clients often find that these initial sessions provide a sense of relief and direction—a feeling that they’re no longer facing things alone, and that meaningful change is truly possible.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

My practice is deeply informed by both personal and professional experiences that have taught me the value of resilience, empathy, and human connection. I’ve seen firsthand how life’s challenges can shape us — but also how they can lead to profound growth when met with compassion and support. These experiences inspire me to approach each client with respect, humility, and genuine care, recognizing that every person’s story is unique.

I value creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions freely, and I believe that healing comes from being truly heard and understood. My guiding values — authenticity, hope, and empowerment — remind me daily why I do this work and how powerful it is to walk beside someone as they reclaim their sense of wholeness and strength.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I believe that every person’s story is unique, and so is the path to healing. I tailor therapy by first listening deeply to understand each client’s background, personality, and goals. From there, I integrate approaches that best fit their needs — drawing from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered, trauma-informed, and relational techniques to create a balanced and flexible process.

I collaborate with clients to identify what works best for them, whether that means exploring past experiences, building new coping skills, or focusing on practical steps toward change. My goal is to help each individual feel seen, supported, and empowered to move at their own pace—in a way that honors their strengths, values, and personal journey.
