About
As a seasoned therapist, I believe everyone is faced with a challenge or challenges that require reaching out for help, and to me, this is the greatest sign of courage.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with 26 years of experience in the mental health field. I have worked with individuals facing depression, anxiety, chronic illness, grief, and major life transitions. I bring a grounded, compassionate approach to therapy and value meeting each client where they are, honoring their unique background, experiences, and goals.
I earned my master’s degree in social work from the University of Missouri. My professional background includes supporting diverse populations and helping clients challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier coping skills, and build greater emotional resilience through evidence-based and client-centered care.
As a therapist, we will begin where you feel most comfortable. I will support you through whatever challenges you are facing, and together we can explore new perspectives and practical strategies for change. You do not have to navigate this journey alone. I am on your team.

Erin Schovanec is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), dance/movement therapist, and certified Yoga Therapist who has 16 years of experience as an expressive and creative mental health professional. Erin’s clinical experience has ranged in various treatment settings including outpatient therapy, Treatment Foster Care, and residential treatment. She has served children, adolescents, and adults experiencing symptoms related to attachment, anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance abuse.
Erin completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Dance Education magna cum laude at the University of Central Oklahoma and her Master of Arts (MA) in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling Psychology at Antioch New England Graduate School. Erin’s personal hobbies include dancing, teaching group exercise, and running.
Erin's clinical approach is solution-focused, person-centered, with the utilization of positive psychology and cognitive behavioral techniques. In addition, as a movement therapist, Erin’s therapeutic approach stems from a mind-body perspective, in that there is an inner relationship between the physical body and our thoughts and emotions. In order to heal, one has to “move through” challenging barriers with open awareness and self-compassion to develop a deeper understanding of one’s self. This healing process contributes to more meaningful relationships and greater connection to self and others.

Individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, allows people to engage in private sessions with a skilled therapist, counselor, or psychologist. The core objective of individual therapy is to establish a secure and confidential setting where you can openly discuss whatever emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges you face. Through these one-on-one sessions, the client and therapist work together to delve into, comprehend, and ultimately find solutions for the issues at hand in their life.
Individual therapy unfolds in a structured process, commencing with an initial assessment in which the therapist gathers essential information about your history, concerns, and objectives. Together, you and your therapist collaboratively establish specific, attainable goals for your sessions, which can encompass symptom alleviation, personal development, or finding solutions to particular challenges.
