Cassie Repert is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of New Jersey who has over 3 years of valuable experience working one-on-one with adolescents and adults in settings ranging from shelters, transitional housing, and college counseling environments. Throughout this time, Cassie has worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, mood disorders, low self-esteem, PTSD, and trauma.
Cassie completed her Bachelor’s degree in Family Science and Human Development from Montclair State University and went on to earn her Master’s degree in Social Work from Monmouth University soon afterward. Cassie takes a humanistic approach to therapy, understanding that the client is the master of their own life. While cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) are Cassie’s specialties, she pulls from many therapeutic approaches and adjusts based on the need of the client.
Cassie understands that taking the first step and choosing to seek therapy can be frightening and wants to make sure that all her clients feel as safe and as comfortable as possible during each session. She will ensure that you feel in control and leave with lifelong skills to improve your mental wellbeing going forward.

As a South Asian woman of color with lived experience navigating mental health in a personal and environmental sense, I have a deep understanding of the cultural, familial, and personal challenges that can shape emotional well-being, and I am committed to providing an affirming, empathetic space where clients can heal and grow, while feeling safe and non stigmatized.
Hello, I'm Shivani, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, authenticity, and evidence-based care. As a South Asian woman of color with lived experience navigating mental health, I understand the courage it takes to seek support and the importance of feeling truly seen and understood. I primarily work with adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, OCD, eating disorders, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, and cultural or identity/LGBTQIA+ related issues.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and strengths-based. I integrate evidence-based modalities, including CBT, DBT, ACT, ERP, and mindfulness-based techniques to help clients understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while building on their strengths. Clients can expect a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment.
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to navigate life's challenges alone. I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey. Healing is possible, and together we can build on your strengths to help you feel more confident, resilient, and connected to the life you want to live. When you're ready, reach out.

I understand how isolating it can feel to navigate life’s challenges without support, which is why I’m passionate about creating a space where you feel seen, heard and understood.
Hi, I'm Nahshira McKay, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families. I work with clients navigating identity, relationship concerns, emotional regulation, and life transitions, and I strive to create a space where you can show up as your full, authentic self—without fear of judgment. I earned my Master of Social Work from Rutgers University. Working with diverse populations facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and co-occurring challenges has shaped my ability to meet you where you are—whether you're overwhelmed, stuck, or looking for support, clarity, and growth.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. I believe you already have the capacity for change, and my role is to help you tap into those strengths while building practical tools along the way. I incorporate evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailored to your unique needs.
I'm especially passionate about working with individuals exploring their identity, as well as couples and families who want to improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen their connections. My goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and empowered to create meaningful, lasting change in your life.

As one who has experienced personal anxiety, trauma, and loss, I have an understanding of how painful life circumstances impact one and how building new life skills can empower us once again.
Hi there, my name is Phyllis Darkwa, and I have been a clinician since 2017. I have helped many clients, each with their own stories and experiences, overcome much of what life throws at them. Clients who have experienced childhood trauma, painful heartaches, anxiety, depression, stress, and just by existing in this vast world of ours. I have worked with some over the past six years and seen a tremendous amount of growth from the day they started, and all the way up to now.
I start by getting to know you and what is happening uniquely to you. Although therapists are all trained to understand how the mind and body work and how we are all interconnected — which is nice to know, as it means we are not all alone — I like to tailor my treatment approach to each unique story.
I am looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you. I encourage you to be as open as you possibly can and let's work together to help you help yourself.

Julie Burnett is a counselor with 11 years of experience. Her focus is working with clients ages 11 and older — individuals, couples, and/or families. Julie believes that all people deserve to be treated with respect and, therefore, respect is a foundational part of her counseling sessions. Julie specializes in general mental health, relationships, grief and loss, domestic abuse, and parenting. She believes that clients are the experts on their own lives, so they are the ones to choose the topics for each session while Julie brings various techniques that can help. Together they create healthy life goals and decide what techniques they want to try. Julie believes that she is here simply to be a helping hand, a listening ear, and a friendly guide as the client navigates through difficult times. In order to help clients find their way to healing on the other side of pain, Julie provides new insights, teaches new skills, introduces new knowledge, helps to broaden the client’s focus, and encourages clients to practice new skills. While Julie will never preach to the client or try to change their beliefs about faith, as a Christian, she views the world through a biblical lens.
Since she was young, Julie has wanted to help people work through their problems so they can have happier, healthier lives. She often found herself being the one her friends went to for help with their problems. She saw counseling as a way to help others. During her studies she was excited to learn that the best helping skill is listening non-judgmentally, the one skill she had been practicing since she was young. She also learned many other counseling techniques and skills that she integrates into sessions with clients. Since earning her counseling degree in 2011, she has served in a variety of settings. She has worked with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, with active and recently retired military personnel, and with high school students. She has also kept a private practice where she has been able to work with all ages and a variety of issues. As she has worked with clients throughout the years, she has found that, regardless of age, healthy relationships and boundary setting are typically common goals for clients as we all strive to live a healthy, productive life. Julie allows the client to lead the session while she helps keep it focused on the path toward healing and healthy life goals. Some of the therapies Julie uses include person-centered, Adlerian, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness.
Julie understands that reaching out for counseling can be a scary time for clients. But she would like you to know that you have nothing to fear from her. Counseling with Julie is a safe space where all emotions are welcome, she will not judge you for your thoughts, actions, or emotions! Julie has been told that she is a very down-to-earth counselor, and she is excited to meet you and help you begin your journey on the path to a healthier and more joyful life.

With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.
Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.
There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your specific needs and with whom you can form a professional connection with.
Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.
Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.
At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.
Unfortunately, we don’t always give our mental health the attention it deserves. Now, the good news, is that we’re learning about the importance of mental health and wellbeing, as well as how we can improve and maintain our mental health and wellbeing—sometimes, this involves working with a counselor.
“I wish that people could understand that the brain is the most important organ in your body. Just because you can’t see it like you could see a broken bone doesn’t mean it’s not as detrimental and devastating to a family or an individual.” –Demi Lovato
If you think that you could find value in working with a counselor, but you aren’t ready to commit to in-person counseling for whatever reason, consider online counseling. Online counseling offers many benefits that in-person counseling doesn’t. It also can offer a solution to many of the problems that people run into in searching for mental health services.
Thriveworks Edison Therapy has online counseling opportunities available. To schedule an appointment and get started in online counseling, simply give our office a call.
Here at Thriveworks Edison Therapy, we offer two main types of online or virtual counseling: telephone counseling and video counseling. Both prove to be effective counseling options, but some people have strong preferences for one or the other. Here’s a little bit about each:
Now, if you prefer the face-to-face interaction that you get in in-person counseling, video counseling might be the right online counseling option for you. If, on the other hand, this isn’t preferable or important to you, telephone counseling might be the right counseling option instead! Either way, the counselors at Thriveworks Edison Therapy are happy to accommodate you in whichever form of online counseling you’d like to explore.
Online counseling brings many benefits to the table. It allows individuals to attend their counseling appointments without even leaving their homes! It also allows people to attend counseling from the office, from the local coffee shop, or from wherever else they need to. We recommend finding a quiet space to talk with your counselor, but most of all, you should attend your session from wherever works for you.
In addition to this convenience factor, online counseling offers comfort: both physically and mentally. You’re welcome to attend your session from wherever you feel comfortable, be it your living room, dining room, or somewhere else. Now, many clients also feel more comfortable in online counseling from a mental standpoint when it comes to opening up about their problems. This can lead to even greater success in counseling.
The benefits don’t stop there. Online counseling also comes with greater flexibility, reliability, and more. To begin experiencing these benefits, simply give online counseling a try. Thriveworks Edison Therapy is here to get to work when you are.
As we’ve discussed, online counseling is a solution for many people who are looking for counseling but can’t commit to regular in-person sessions. Online counseling enables you to meet with your counselor right from home or wherever else you happen to be/need to be. This is meant to be a convenient, comfortable option that empowers you to make meaningful changes and advancement with your provider.
If you’re ready to take the plunge into online counseling, give Thriveworks Edison Therapy a call. We’ve taken it upon ourselves to offer both in-person and online mental health services, to best accommodate all of our clients. If you’re interested in the many benefits and perks of online counseling, we’re happy to set you up with a counselor who can help you over the phone or video. Just call our office and we’ll get you all set up.
