Patricia Ruggiero is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. She has managed community programs, led clinical teams, and provided psychotherapy in agency and private settings. She works best with individuals seeking guidance, structure, and a supportive space to grow. Her ideal client is someone ready to explore meaningful change, improve emotional resilience, build greater independence in their life, and thrive.
Pat earned a Master’s in Social Work from Kean University. She uses a solution-focused, person-centered approach rooted in cognitive behavior therapy to help clients identify strengths and set goals with clarity. Her crisis intervention and advocacy experience allow her to support complex needs with compassion and structure for real-life progress.
Pat understands how overwhelming life can feel when you’re trying to navigate challenges alone. Therapy is a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. She offers a calm, supportive environment where you will work at your pace. She would be honored to walk with you toward greater peace and confidence.

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
We all have it within ourselves to change but sometimes need a kind, neutral person with us to guide us there. There is a tremendous amount of satisfaction when you see someone make changes in their lives and you were a part of their journey.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Pat works best with people who are determined to look at what has gotten them to where they are, acknowledge it and find healthy ways to make the changes they want in their lives.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Pat is excited to work with people open to change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That while life can certainly be hard and often feel like you are drowning, there is always hope and the ability to float and learn to swim.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I wanted to be able to increase my caseload and reach a larger clientele.
What inspires you?
Seeing how people can take charge of their lives and make positive changes.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A kind, gentle setting. While the assessment occurs, sometimes people need to begin by saying what is on their mind. I am open to and sensitive to their needs and have an open approach.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I hope to begin to establish trust and that the individual knows I care and am willing to work with them on their journey.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I will be with you and work hard with you to achieve your goals.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Bike ride, hike, visit amusement parks.
