Michael Ficaro, PHMNP
Philosophy of Care
Michael Ficaro has worked with clients with a myriad of psychiatric issues including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, OCD, eating disorders, substance use disorders, spectrum disorders, and behavioral disorders. In his experience, all consumers of health care want to reduce symptoms causing distress, address health issues in a nonjudgmental environment, improve overall health outcomes, and return to or improve their baseline level of functionality.
Michael believes in a patient-centered care model where the patient and provider work together to address issues impacting health. He has great respect for patients' autonomy and their right to make decisions that directly impact their lives and health. His role as a provider is to help determine what the issues are that are interfering with one's health and recommend treatment options that improve outcomes. To that end, Michael is a nonjudgemental, expert listener whose purpose is to help my patients improve their health by reducing distressing symptoms that are interfering with their quality of life.
"I understand that mental health issues can be extremely distressing and can interfere with many areas of life. It can feel isolating, overwhelming, and scary to have to confront what is happening," says Michael. "Issues of mental health, however, are extremely common in the human experience because we are thinking, feeling beings dealing with myriad internal and external stimuli that affect us in profound ways. I assure you that what you are dealing with can be addressed to help you return to optimal health. Reach out and together we can find solutions that best suit your needs."
