Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I chose the path of a social worker, driven by a desire to address the inequities and injustices within the healthcare system. My commitment lies in a field prioritizing principles like unconditional positive regard, recognizing the inherent dignity and worth of every individual, rather than profit. As a therapist, I embraced this role understanding that healing is a shared journey; it doesn't unfold in isolation. We all need help, at times, to help uncover their truth and understand that both healing and living a meaningful life are, indeed, possible.
What inspires you?
I find inspiration in witnessing the remarkable courage and resilience displayed by individuals as they persevere in the face of adversity.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session, my goal is to create a safe, welcoming and non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and emotions. We'll engage in a conversation to better understand the challenges you're facing and discuss your goals for therapy. I'll provide information about my therapeutic approach and answer any questions you may have. This initial session lays the groundwork for a trusting therapeutic alliance built on mutual respect and shared commitment to your well-being.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
In my therapeutic practice, I proudly identify as an ally. This means that I am dedicated to creating a safe, affirming, and inclusive space for individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. My commitment to being an ally goes beyond words, as I actively strive to understand and address the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities. By fostering a culture of respect, acceptance, and openness, I aim to empower clients to explore their narratives and experiences freely. Together, we work towards promoting healing, growth, and resilience in an environment that values diversity and embraces the richness it brings to our shared therapeutic journey.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
During my leisure time, I find joy in immersing myself in the outdoors. Whether it's cycling through scenic landscapes, hiking along trails, or embracing the tranquility of camping, nature is my sanctuary. Engaging in creative pursuits is another source of fulfillment for me. I indulge in musical expressions and find solace in the artistic realms of painting and drawing. Balancing these activities allows me to recharge, fostering a holistic well-being that positively influences my therapeutic approach.
