Philosophy of Care
Sam Taliaferro is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with a passion for supporting those who find themselves struggling with the demands that accompany the human experience. Sam’s previous 13 years of experience has afforded him diverse training in various settings including community-based care in both Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and private practice, as well as facility-based care in both medical and psychiatric hospital systems. Sam specializes in working with individuals who feel as though they are in a rut or overwhelmed by the burden of external expectations. Sam strives to support individuals with re establishing existing skills while also adding a few tools to the toolbox.
Sam’s approach is to encourage individuals not to fear limitations, but embrace them with the intention of promoting personal growth. Sam’s open dialog focuses on personal goals and expectations, as well as strategies to measure progress when addressing them. Sam’s approach of listening and learning from individuals allows access to recommended coping skills to address and overcome a diverse range of personal challenges
Sam’s core belief is that everyone benefits from enthusiasm and encouragement in exploring the value of individual therapy. Sam offers a consistent, positive approach to empower individuals and support them in exploring change in a variety of different ways. He understands that everyone may not grasp the benefit of individual therapy initially and exercises patience to guide individuals through the therapeutic process.
