About
Healing happens in stages, and we all have room to grow. I am happy to take this journey with you.
I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) with 16 years of experience in the mental health field. I specialize in substance use and addiction, trauma, ADHD, and parenting concerns. I take a nonjudgmental, open-minded approach to therapy and enjoy working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. I have experience supporting both adults and children who are navigating the effects of trauma and related emotional challenges.
I earned my master’s degree in human services from Capella University and am a master’s-level certified addiction professional. My work is grounded in evidence-based modalities, and I am trained in helping clients process trauma-related symptoms while building insight, emotional regulation, and practical coping skills.
My approach begins with a strong therapeutic relationship and clarifying your goals for therapy. Together, we will explore effective tools to better understand your experiences and develop coping strategies that support growth and self-awareness. I aim to help you leave each session feeling supported, empowered, and equipped to continue your progress.

Daniellys "Danny" Diaz graduated from Webster University with a Master's Degree in Counseling in 2018 before continuing on as a Family Behavioral Therapist at a nonprofit organization. Her goal as your therapist is to make you feel comfortable, hopeful, and validated when addressing lifestyle stressors via therapeutic interventions, discussions, and activities. A safe space will be provided to explore challenges such as anxiety & depression, addictions, grief, trauma, relationship issues, anger management, and more.
As a clinician, it is Danny's preference to work with individuals between the ages of 11 and 65 years old. This age range allows her to work with a diverse group of clients, including adolescents, adults, and older adults. Danny finds it particularly fulfilling to support individuals through various stages of their lives. However, she also recognizes the importance of being flexible and adaptable in her approach and is committed to tailoring her services to meet the unique needs of each client, regardless of their age.
When working together, you will partake in a collaborative journey identifying key areas of treatment focus. A warm, safe, and supportive environment will be provided to build on strengths, facilitate change, process traumas, and recognize further areas for growth. As case needs may differ from person to person, a variety of therapeutic approaches may be utilized within the session to assist you in reaching your goals. Techniques may be derived from the following: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Family Behavioral Therapy (FBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Mindfullness-Based (MBCT), and Person-Centered Therapy. Danny offers individual, family, and couples counseling services. She believes that addressing mental health concerns through a range of therapeutic modalities can help clients achieve lasting positive change in their lives. Whether working with an individual, a couple, or a family, her goal is to create a non-judgmental and affirming environment that fosters growth and healing.
Danny views therapy as a collaborative, empowering process. She is confident that she can support you on your journey toward gaining new perspectives and coping techniques that will help you overcome any challenges you may be facing. If you're ready to take the first step toward positive change, schedule an appointment today! With Danny's guidance and support, you can work towards achieving your goals.

I am a Registered Mental Health Intern who has experience supporting clients of all ages managing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality, and psychosis. My work focuses on helping clients find their voice and feel heard by their family and friends. I aim to guide clients in learning how to communicate their emotions and needs effectively while recognizing that their diagnosis does not define who they are.
I earned a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. My therapeutic approach is holistic, empathetic, and client-centered. I help clients develop coping strategies, build emotional awareness, and strengthen communication skills to support lasting personal growth and resilience.
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming, but it’s a powerful act of self-care. OCD counseling is a specialized therapeutic approach aimed at supporting individuals coping with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The goal of this counseling is to help clients manage and alleviate the distressing symptoms of OCD by systematically addressing their obsessive thought patterns and compulsive behaviors.
In OCD counseling, Thriveworks Gainesville therapists use cognitive behavioral techniques, including exposure and response prevention, to assist you in addressing and managing your obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. An OCD therapist will collaborate with you to identify and modify irrational thought patterns while gradually and gently exposing you to anxiety-triggering situations, helping to disrupt the cycle of obsessive-compulsive rituals and promote healthier coping strategies.
Thriveworks OCD counseling in Gainesville, FL is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The number of sessions for OCD counseling is variable, contingent upon the individual’s unique needs, the severity of their condition, and their progress during treatment. Typically, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), commonly used for OCD, comprises around 12 to 16 weekly sessions, but the exact session count can be customized based on the individual’s response to treatment and therapeutic objectives. Some opt for a more extended duration to comprehensively manage symptoms and address complex issues.
