What is your go-to approach for individual therapy?

My go-to approach for individual therapy is to incorporate clients' strengths and cultural experiences into evidence-based treatment. I find this approach beneficial, as it can help treat the whole person and address their unique life experiences.

What tools do you teach in individual therapy?

In individual therapy, I teach the following:

  • Acceptance - learning how to view mental health in a judgement-free way
  • Behavior change - identifying areas of life to modify for healthier living, coping skills, and ways to adapt to changes
  • Mindfulness - ways to stay in the present and have a better connection to internal state, as well as learning what is around you
  • Cognitive restructuring - identifying new ways of thinking to better serve you in your day-to-day life
  • Emotional processing - becoming comfortable with vulnerability and emotional experiences that influence our behavior and ways that we think

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in individual therapy?

I know a client is making meaningful progress when they are able to show how they have changed, whether in thinking, behavior, relationships, or other areas of life. I think meaningful progress can be shown when clients develop a deeper sense of trust in themselves.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement individual therapy?

Clients can supplement their time in individual therapy by processing the therapy session on their own time, practicing new techniques, finding small challenges in daily life, and talking about their therapy experiences with a trusted member of their support system.

What should someone do to prepare for starting individual therapy?

To prepare for your first individual therapy session, you can think about why you've decided that now is the time to pursue therapy and what you hope to get out of your therapy experience.

Starting Individual therapy in Duluth

What is individual therapy?

Individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, allows people to engage in private sessions with a skilled therapist, counselor, or psychologist. The core objective of individual therapy is to establish a secure and confidential setting where you can openly discuss whatever emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges you face. Through these one-on-one sessions, the client and therapist work together to delve into, comprehend, and ultimately find solutions for the issues at hand in their life.

How does individual therapy work?

Individual therapy unfolds in a structured process, commencing with an initial assessment in which the therapist gathers essential information about your history, concerns, and objectives. Together, you and your therapist collaboratively establish specific, attainable goals for your sessions, which can encompass symptom alleviation, personal development, or finding solutions to particular challenges.

Can individual therapy help me?

Yes, individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, at Thriveworks can help you to improve your mental health and overall quality of life.

Is individual therapy conducted in person or online?

Individual therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and via Online therapy. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.

How long does individual therapy last?

The duration of your individual therapy sessions will vary. The decision on the number and frequency of sessions is typically collaboratively determined by the client and therapist.

How much does individual therapy cost?

At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.

My provider has really given me a new approach when it comes to therapy. It's a new way of dealing with things that no other therapist I have had before has discussed with me. She's very focused and gets down to the bottom of things. I can't wait to see how things progress

Shame on Thrive works. My partner and I have been seeing a therapist and liked her. BUT both last week and this week we drove to Duluth location (35 minutes from my house), waited in the waiting room, only to find out our therapist wasn’t even there!!! Called to inquire why and basically got no reason. I received both the text message confirming my appointment and the emails. What if we were in crisis??? So disappointed with them.

Working with Eboni has truly transformed my life but also the personal love I have for myself. I’d thought I was need of therapy due to stress from my job. After a few months I realize that I was going to be tackling more than just work issues. Eboni was absolutely phenomenal in her quietness when I needed to see myself and determine the truth behind any problems I was trying to work through. I’m so much better because of it and I’m so happy that I made the decision to start. Though I still have a lot to work on;I can already see a difference and so can everyone else! Thank you Eboni!!
