Justin Mann, LCSW

Philosophy of Care

As a licensed clinical therapist, my focus on developing and nurturing relationships with my clients, to  help them reach their goals. My approach is to treat the whole person, which includes a holistic  approach with the understanding that oftentimes mental health difficulties co-occur simultaneously and  impact one another. I specialize in helping people overcome their struggles with depression, anxiety,  couples counseling, family therapy, substance use and trauma. The stress of coping with all of the  aspects of our current environment combined with struggling to maintain mental wellness can be  overwhelming, and I enjoy helping others through these times.

My training and approach include Evidence-Based Practices designed to help people change the way  they think, which can effectively change the world around them. These techniques combined with a  strong sense of empathy and a strengths-based approach have allowed me to help my clients realize

their full potential. As a musician, I enjoy incorporating elements of music and creativity, as I feel these  are very helpful tools to help cope with what life brings you.

I have a Master’s degree in Social work from Saint Louis University, where I graduated as part of the Phi Alpha Honor Society. I am fully licensed as a Clinical Social Worker, and possess Co-Occurring Disorders  and Medication Assisted Recovery certifications. I enjoy playing music and spending my time with my  wife and two sons.

Susan Purnell, PhD, LPC, NCC

Philosophy of Care

Susan Purnell is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. She holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Walden University and a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Webster University.

Susan utilizes an integrative approach to counseling utilizing three main theories. She uses feminist, solution-focused, and cognitive-behavioral theory (CBT). Susan employs this mix to address her client’s immediate need to function effectively in their day-to-day lives, while giving them the ability to see how and why they may be stalled in their current situation. Susan often works with survivors of trauma, and in those instances, she uses trauma-informed or trauma-focused CBT. As clients progress, Susan likes to incorporate attachment theory into therapy to explore early relationships and their impact on later life. This often gives clients insight into the how and why of decisions made and often alleviates the anxiety of self-blame.

Susan seeks to foster rapport with her clients by providing a safe space in which they can disclose their challenges and develop strategies to manage difficulties in their lives and relationships.
