About Kelli
Kelli Eckert is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who’s provided services to clients for 20+ years. She understands that everyone has their own unique reasons for seeking therapy and brings empathy and authenticity to her person-centered, strengths-based approach. She builds trusted and effective partnerships with her clients to help them create lives of peace and stability. Throughout her career, she’s worked with clients of all ages dealing with issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, and relationship difficulties. She specializes in emotional regulation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and behavior modification. Kelli earned her MSW at Washington University in St. Louis. Kelli approaches her work with clients as a collaboration as she supports them in their endeavors. She utilizes an eclectic style and applies treatment modalities such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness to address negative patterns and emotional regulation. Whether you’re at a crossroads, struggling with a change, seeking a sense of purpose, or overwhelmed by challenges, Kelli provides a safe space to express your feelings, gain perspective, and learn skills. She has the compassion and empathy to sit with you in uncomfortable moments and will help you harness your strengths.

Get to know Kelli
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a LCSW because I genuinely care about people and want to see them achieve their best lives. I believe in their potential and know that with the right tools and support they can accomplish and/or overcome things they didn't believe they could.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work well with people of all ages.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm excited to work with clients who are struggling with life stressors but are motivated make a positive change and come out stronger on the other side.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
We all struggle and deal with things that sometimes knock us off track. Therapy is about personal growth and seeking someone to talk to is an indication of the inner strength they already possess.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because it removes obstacles and makes therapy more easily accessible to clients.
What inspires you?
I'm inspired when I see people set goals and achieve them through dedication and hard work. I'm also inspired by those who extend kindness to others out of the goodness of their hearts.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session clients can expect to feel that they are in a safe space where they are heard and supported.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session we will get to know each other, identify areas of concern and discuss expectations, hopes, and goals for therapy.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I believe in people and their abilities. I'm encouraging, compassionate, open-minded and will inject some levity when appropriate; but I will also challenge their thinking when necessary. I believe that growth comes from stretching oneself and the willingness to try something new.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I thoroughly enjoy the outdoors and the beauty found in nature. I love hiking, cycling and road trips.
