Experience effective therapy with a counselor or therapist in Rochester

If you have the flu, you’ll go to the doctor. If you have a toothache, you’ll call your dentist to get in as soon as you can. If you break a bone, you’ll trust an orthopedic doctor to put you in a cast and make sure you heal properly.

When our bodies need help, most of us understand the importance of getting that help as soon as we can. We press pause on our busy lives because we know that if we don’t, the problem is likely to get much worse.

It can be hard to treat your mental wellbeing the same way. The mental challenges you face can seem invisible but it’s important to pay attention to how you feel. If you find yourself feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or hopeless, it’s okay to pause and reach out to a professional for help.

When you’re ready to prioritize your mental health, consider connecting with us at Thriveworks Counseling & Psychiatry Rochester. Our counselors, therapists, family therapists, couples therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists are standing by to provide compassionate and experienced care.

Reasons To Pursue Counseling

Sometimes we’re born with the problems we face and sometimes they develop from difficult situations. Either way, we’re not always equipped with the knowledge and skills we need to work through them. Counseling can provide you with the tools to manage a variety of mental health issues.

If you’re struggling with any of the following, you might want to consider reaching out to a Thriveworks mental health professional:

  • Anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Self-esteem issues
  • Overwhelming feelings
  • Depression
  • Unpredictable and drastic shifts in mood
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Relationship problems
  • Substance abuse

The mental health professionals at Thriveworks Counseling & Psychiatry Rochester are empathetic to how these conditions can impact your mental health. We’re ready to give you the tools you need to take care of yourself.

Should I Speak With a Licensed Psychiatrist?

Licensed psychiatrists are highly trained mental health professionals. They have completed medical degrees and residencies, spending years to understand the development and treatment of many different types of mental health problems. With this knowledge, they can assess and diagnose many kinds of mental health issues. As medical doctors, they are the only mental health professionals who can prescribe medication to the clients they treat.

A psychiatrist can help you determine the severity of your condition based on factors such as your physical, emotional, and environmental state. They’ll use this information to decide on the best treatment plan unique to you. If you’re feeling depressed, your psychiatrist might determine it’s best for you to start taking medication to manage your pain. Or, they might help you through therapy and suggestions for lifestyle changes you can implement. Your treatment might even involve a combination of those things.

What’s important to remember is that there is no one-size-fits-all mental health treatment, and your Thriveworks psychiatrist can help you find the treatment that fits just right for you through online therapy appointments.
