What is your go-to approach for PTSD/trauma therapy?

I utilize a trauma-informed approach with all of my clients, but especially with those who have a history of PTSD/trauma. I find that a trauma-informed approach is helpful in establishing and maintaining trust in a therapeutic relationship.

What tools do you teach in PTSD/trauma therapy?

I utilize a trauma-informed approach and draw from elements of narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), and mindfulness. I frequently teach clients who have a PTSD/trauma history a variety of coping skills that specifically suit their needs.

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in PTSD/trauma therapy?

I know a client is making meaningful progress in PTSD/trauma therapy when they demonstrate a reduction in symptoms that initially brought them to therapy.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement PTSD/trauma therapy?

Clients can supplement their time in PTSD/trauma therapy by utilizing the strategies/skills that are taught in sessions outside of sessions.

What should someone do to prepare for starting PTSD/trauma therapy?

To prepare for their first PTSD/trauma therapy session, someone can share as much or as little as they feel comfortable with.

Thriveworks is full of amazing employees. Even the person that answered my first call was incredible, compassionate and sought out the best possible options for my situation. I've been going weekly 3 months and will likely continue for years!
