About
As one who believes in equality and a healthy lifestyle, I desire to help assist others in developing their version of a healthy life.
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 47 years of experience supporting adolescents and adults through life’s challenges. I specialize in anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, work-related stress, family conflict, divorce recovery, student concerns, grief, and substance use. I have also worked with individuals experiencing serious mental illness and everyday life stressors.
I earned my master's degree in agency counseling from Troy State University. I use an integrative approach, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure and response prevention, and other evidence-based techniques. I tailor treatment to each individual and may incorporate homework or role-play exercises to reinforce progress between sessions.
Life can feel overwhelming at times, and asking for help is a courageous first step. I am here to walk alongside you, offering guidance, support, and practical tools to help you move toward healing and renewed hope. When you are ready, I encourage you to schedule a session and begin your next chapter.

My go-to approach for helping people in individual therapy is person-centered and reality/choice therapy. I prefer these approaches to therapy because they allow the client to direct their own course to therapy, realistically learn from the situation, take accountability for their choices, and learn problem-solving skills based on where the client is in life.
I teach each client tools based on their own personal strengths and circumstances, such as how to cope with stressors, emotional regulation, and emotional tolerance.
I know a client is making meaningful progress in individual therapy when they are able to implement coping skills with minimal assistance and tolerate difficult emotions.
Clients can supplement their time in individual therapy by reviewing their therapy notes from their sessions. I encourage clients to have a notebook to write things that they feel may be helpful outside of the session.
To prepare for your first therapy session, I feel that clients should identify what it is that they are hoping to get out of therapy. It is important to know what it is that you would like to see throughout this process.
Individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, allows people to engage in private sessions with a skilled therapist, counselor, or psychologist. The core objective of individual therapy is to establish a secure and confidential setting where you can openly discuss whatever emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges you face. Through these one-on-one sessions, the client and therapist work together to delve into, comprehend, and ultimately find solutions for the issues at hand in their life.
Individual therapy unfolds in a structured process, commencing with an initial assessment in which the therapist gathers essential information about your history, concerns, and objectives. Together, you and your therapist collaboratively establish specific, attainable goals for your sessions, which can encompass symptom alleviation, personal development, or finding solutions to particular challenges.
Yes, individual therapy, also known as Individual therapy, at Thriveworks can help you to improve your mental health and overall quality of life.

The duration of your individual therapy sessions will vary. The decision on the number and frequency of sessions is typically collaboratively determined by the client and therapist.
