What is your go-to approach for online therapy?

I prefer to use a variety of therapy modalities when I work with clients who choose online therapy. Depending on what each client's goals for therapy are, I use the screenshare feature to go through visuals and documents that I then send to clients for their use between sessions.

What tools do you teach in online therapy?

I teach various tools using online therapy, which include:

  • Mindfulness
  • Breathwork
  • Communication tools (“I” statements, soft start-ups, assertive statements, assertive listening skills)
  • Relationship cycles (Woodsfellow love/fear cycles)
  • Play therapy techniques
  • Family therapy techniques
  • CBT interventions (behavioral experiments, Socratic question lists, CBT triangle, CBT list of cognitive distortions)
  • DBT interventions (mindfulness, REST planning, coping thoughts)

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in online therapy?

I know a client is making meaningful progress in online therapy when they report handling their emotions and stressors differently than they have before and we both agree that it feels appropriate to decrease meeting frequency.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement online therapy?

Clients can supplement their time in individual therapy by:

  • Surrounding themselves with individuals who respect and support the changes they wish to make
  • Journals to help track growth and progress
  • Explore and pursue enjoyable activities, people, and places
  • Find and read material that supports the work being done in therapy

What should someone do to prepare for starting online therapy?

To prepare for your first online therapy session, it's important to make sure that:

  • You have a private place to meet so you feel comfortable speaking
  • Your technology works properly
  • You can sit in your meeting place in a way that you feel comfortable

Starting Online therapy

What is online therapy?

With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.

How does online therapy work?

Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.

What is the best option for online therapy?

There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your specific needs and with whom you can form a professional connection with.

Is online therapy just as effective?

Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.

How long does online therapy last?

Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.

How much does online therapy cost?

At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.

Need more help deciding?

Did you recently start experiencing symptoms of depression? Is a problem in your relationship causing you stress or distracting you at work? Are you grieving the loss of a loved one? Are you suffering from a low self-esteem? Is something causing you psychological or mental distress?

If so, you should consider working with a therapist, counselor, or psychologist. These are mental health professionals who can assist you during your most difficult experiences. They have helped millions of people all across the globe to address and manage their problems, from mental illness to relationship issues, work stress, grief and loss, low self-esteem, and more.

I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can

adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”

Are you looking for Cobb therapy? Thriveworks Kennesaw, GA is here to help you. Our therapists, counselors, and coaches have many specialties, which allow them to assist you with whatever it is you’re encountering or working to overcome. If you are interested, you can choose to work with your therapist the traditional way (in-person), or you can choose to do so online. That’s right, Thriveworks Kennesaw has online therapy counseling options. To schedule an online therapy appointment just call (770) 224-7408, and to find out more, keep reading!

Is Online Therapy the Right Therapy Option For Me?

We want you to know that you have many therapy options available to you. We also want you to know that you don’t have to choose online counseling just because it’s an option in front of you! You might decide that in-person therapy is actually the right choice, and that’s okay too. But, we do suggest that you consider the following online therapy benefits before you make your decision:

  1. It’s highly accessible: A huge benefit of online therapy is that it’s super accessible. All of the normal external factors that can get in your way of attending therapy—traffic, distance, time, weather, illness—don’t matter when it comes to online counseling! Why? Because you get to attend from the comfort and convenience of your own home or wherever you happen to be.
  2. It offers anonymity: Another big benefit of online therapy counseling (one that isn’t offered in in-person counseling) is that you can keep your identify hidden, if you want to. There’s no pressure to disclose your identity. If you don’t want to meet your counselor face to face, just make sure you choose phone counseling or email counseling versus email therapy.
  3. It’s comfortable: A third benefit we’re going to mention is that you get to attend your session from wherever you choose, which means you could attend from the comfort of your couch or bed if you want to! Or, you can go to your local coffee shop, attend from your car if you have to, or attend your online therapy session wherever you need to.

There are many benefits that come with online therapy; benefits that in-person therapy does not offer. If you think these benefits could make online therapy the right therapy option for you, reach out to Thriveworks Kennesaw, GA in Cobb County today to schedule your appointment.

“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” Surely you know this quote from the ever-popular Forrest Gump. This metaphor exemplifies the unpredictability that is life. One day, it can feel like we’re soaring through the clouds; and the very next, it can feel like we’re drowning. The unpredictability and the chaos of life is something that we will never be able to change. However, we can change how we react to the unpredictable, chaotic challenges that come our way.

Your decision to work with a therapist is your decision to take control of your life. They can help you to work through your current challenges and prepare yourself for any future challenges you experience, too. If you see the value in therapy and counseling, reach out to Thriveworks Kennesaw, GA in Cobb County. As you know, we offer both online therapy and in-person counseling options. Let's talk about Kelli Beechler for a second! This woman is an absolute God send to me! If you don’t believe in God, well then let's just say the universe or regardless of whatever it is you actually believe in, she has been an absolute gift in my life! This is a woman who NEVER makes you feel like you are just a number or a paycheck to her! I feel so thankful to know her! I can't fully express in words, how blessed I feel to have her in my life but I'm going to try just for the sake of someone else who might need to know her could be reading this. She is someone who’s beyond kind and compassionate and caring! She always meets me exactly where I am, and there has never been a single time that I don’t feel better after a session with her. My sessions change my week, my life, and also keep me sane when things go crazy! It brings me comfort in remembering no matter how hard things feel I get to see her and she will do whatever is in her power to help me help myself! She never fails to remind me who I am in my core, or what I’m trying to accomplish, or how to lead with a level head and not my emotions based on what I’ve told her I'm trying to accomplish. She helps me stay focused, determined, and accountable. Her soul is one of the best I’ve ever seen! I have been in and out of therapy the better half of my life and I'm about to be 28. I have had all kinds of people and teachings and nothing compares to the relationship I’ve developed with this woman in just a few short months. I don’t feel like she’s just a counselor, I feel like she’s my friend! Kelli shows up for me in a way no one else in my life does! I feel like I can tell her anything without fear. It's always a judgement free zone! I feel like she always comes from a place of love and of service in her heart! She’s always teaching me new ways and tricks and tips that help me. I am going through a great deal of things in my life right now and I’ve got to say I don’t really know what I would do without this woman and her support! The role she plays in my life is so significant. There is something so special about knowing you can count on someone, and not just count on someone but have great advice. There is something huge to say when a person is choosing to show up for you when you need them most, and I just want to express that I have literally never ever felt like I was just a way for her to make money. When I think about Kelli I can't help but want to express how beautiful her soul is. She is such a special person and anyone who knows her knows she’s a gift; the kind of pure magic! Don’t believe me? Set up a session with her and find out for yourself!
