About Teresa
"As a 60-year-old woman, I have a variety of lived experiences that will help inform the path to wellness we will take together; I am a veteran, mother of a special needs child, a survivor of sexual trauma, and I am adopted."
Dr. Teresa Costa is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with 14 years of experience. She began working as a special education teacher and transitioned those skills into working with special needs children and their families as a play therapist. She also included time to work with veterans and their families as well as others experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress and the elderly experiencing life changes in identity and family dynamics. Dr. Costa is committed to continuing her education to meet the ever-changing needs of patients seeking to learn skills and develop the resources they need to build a life worth living.
Using cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing, and dialectical behavior therapy, patients will spend their time between sessions practicing new skills and educating themselves by watching videos, reading, journaling, or interacting with others. Working collaboratively, patients will strive to overcome the barriers to building the life they want.
Teresa is aware that change is difficult, especially when childhood experiences create voices in your head that leave you feeling defeated, angry, hurt, overwhelmed, and unworthy. She will help you wade through all of this so you can use words like happy, loved, worthy, and content.
