Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I became a counselor because I am passionate about helping people and seeing them make positive changes.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with kids, adolescents, and adults. I work well with individuals who are ready for change and those who are not sure if counseling is for them.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with complex problems or where others may see challenges. Many times there are multiple things going on and not just one issue. I look forward to working with individuals of all ages.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish clients knew that even successful individuals face challenges in life and would benefit from counseling.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I was looking at online counseling practices where I could work part-time. I was blown away by the staff at Thriveworks and what they offered. For this reason I chose to work with Thriveworks.
What inspires you?
I look for inspiration everywhere I look. From nature to people, to shows I watch. There is something we can learn from every corner if we just take a second to take it in.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
During the first session, I will get to know you and will ask lots of questions to better understand how I can help you.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I like to provide tools within the first session! Let's not wait and see, but rather get started on skills that can help!
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I am client-centered. I will work with you to set goals and direction for counseling. We will also set time frames for evaluating progress.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to read, cook, and garden. I also find organizations I am passionate about helping and volunteering my time.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am fairly quiet and reserved. I do like to go out from time to time, but when I need to recharge I do so with individual activities like gardening.
