About
My goal is to provide thoughtful, compassionate psychiatric care that helps people move forward with greater clarity, stability, and confidence.
I’m a board-certified psychiatrist based in Kansas City with experience treating adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other common mental health challenges. I believe effective care starts with listening and understanding each person’s unique story. My approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and evidence-based, and I work closely with patients to develop practical treatment plans that help improve focus, mood, and overall quality of life.
My approach is collaborative and practical. I take time to understand each patient’s goals and challenges, then work together to create a clear, evidence-based treatment plan. Patients can expect thoughtful conversations, careful medication management, and a focus on helping them make meaningful progress in daily life.
I know reaching out for mental health care can feel like a big step. My goal is to create a supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and comfortable discussing what’s going on. If you’re looking for thoughtful, collaborative care, I’d be glad to work with you.

Anxiety therapy helps people better understand and manage their anxiety. Anxiety therapists at Thriveworks in Topeka, KS can develop a treatment plan that will help you better manage your day-to-day anxiety or your anxiety disorder.
Anxiety therapy involves talking to a therapist about symptoms, potential causes, and more. Thriveworks Topeka therapists will then work with you to determine where your anxiety might stem from and teach you effective coping mechanisms.
One of the best ways to deal with anxiety is to learn about your own anxiety: your symptoms, what triggers it, and what coping mechanisms have been effective in the past. When you learn what your anxiety is tied to, it can help you be mindful of what’s really happening as well as prevent and mitigate symptoms by processing and working through the issue in therapy. Other strategies that have been shown to help manage anxiety are meditation, challenging anxious thoughts, exercising, and journaling.
Common symptoms of anxiety include:
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can be incredibly effective in treating anxiety and anxiety disorders. Other effective techniques include exposure therapy, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and EMDR therapy.
Anxiety therapy is conducted both in person and online, depending on the individual’s preferences and their therapist’s availability. We suggest choosing the option that best suits your needs.
On average, people can tend to attend 15 to 20 session of anxiety therapy (five or more months). However, this number is heavily dependent on the type of anxiety that’s being treated and its severity, with many choosing to attend anxiety therapy for a longer period of time to ensure its effectiveness long-term.

Anxiety can look different for different people. Some people experience debilitating physical symptoms while others experience racing and catastrophic thoughts. Here are some of the most common symptoms of anxiety:
The kinds of symptoms you face can also depend, at least in part, on the type of anxiety disorder you have. There are several kinds of anxiety disorders, including:
The most common treatment for anxiety is called talk therapy, which involves an open dialogue between a client and a licensed professional to reduce anxiety symptoms and address emotional concerns. One form of talk therapy used to treat anxiety disorders is called cognitive behavioral therapy, or CBT. Usually a short-term treatment, CBT focuses on adjusting harmful thought patterns to improve mood and behavior.
Another form of talk therapy called dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is used to teach specific skills to help you understand your symptoms and their triggers so you can build the confidence you need to manage each situation that sets off your anxiety alarm bell.
Sometimes, medication is used in conjunction with talk therapy to help treat severe or persistent symptoms. Other treatment methods that are often used hand-in-hand with therapy include stress-management activities, meditation, and relaxation techniques. Your provider may also recommend regular exercise, self-care activities, eating well, avoiding caffeine and alcohol, and getting enough sleep.
