Hello! My name is Kristi Tanaka. I earned my Psy.D. in 2020 and a Master of Social Work from the University of Hawai'i in 2001, and I am credentialed as an LCSW and Board-Certified Diplomate (BCD). From 2009 through 2017, I worked for the Department of Defense at Schofield Barracks Health Clinic and Tripler Army Medical Center, providing therapy to dual-diagnosed service members, with a clinical focus on combat-related PTSD and military family issues. My experience also includes working with the severely and persistently mentally ill, at-risk youth, and children ages zero to three and their families through Easter Seals Hawai'i.
I offer supportive, evidence-based therapy for adults navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. In our sessions, you will be truly heard without pressure to fix everything at once. Together, we will explore your story, build practical tools for healing and growth, and help you move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
In our work together, you can expect to feel more confident, more at ease sharing your story, and even find moments of laughter. My approach is warm, welcoming, and down-to-earth, with a focus on what truly helps you feel better and move forward. If you are ready for care that feels genuine, compassionate, and personal, I would be honored to work with you.

As someone who has experienced personal trauma and PTSD, I know how much that can affect every aspect of a person's life, and what challenges it presents to becoming the healthiest version of yourself.
Hi, my name is Jared, and I'm an LPC Associate with an M.S. in Counseling. I work with adults ages 18–63 navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction recovery, relationship wounds, identity development, and emotional pain. I also support LGBTQIA+ clients exploring identity, shame, religious trauma, self-acceptance, and rejection. My background includes PHP/IOP work with complex trauma, substance use, personality disorders, and major life transitions. I'm passionate about helping people move out of survival mode and toward healing, growth, and lasting change.
My approach is compassionate, direct, trauma-informed, and collaborative. I use CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and attachment-based work to help clients process trauma, regulate emotions, improve relationships, and break painful patterns. I also believe humor, authenticity, and joy are important parts of healing.
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate things alone. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and supported while working toward healing, growth, and lasting change. If you feel we may be a good fit, I'd be honored to work with you.
You deserve dedicated time with a mental health professional — it can be life-changing.

The Gottman Method of couples therapy is a research-supported approach designed to enhance relationships by bolstering the bond between partners, resolving conflicts, and fostering shared meaning in their relationship through comprehensive assessments and tailored interventions that improve communication, trust, and the overall health of the partnership.
If you’re facing persistent relationship problems, communication breakdowns, or unresolved conflicts that are impacting your emotional well-being and happiness, Couples/marriage therapy may be beneficial for you.
While marriage and couple’s counseling is typically recommended for couples who are experiencing persistent or severe relationship issues, any relationship can benefit from attending these sessions.
Marriage and couples counseling at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you and your partner.
On average, couples attend marriage and couples counseling for 12 weeks. However, couples & marriage counseling may last longer or shorter, dependent on the couples’ needs, the challenges they’d like to work through, and the pace of their progress.
