What is your go-to approach for online therapy?

In online therapy, I integrate client-centered therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to create a supportive environment for clients. Through client-centered therapy, I establish a nonjudgmental space where clients can openly share their experiences, promoting a sense of being heard and understood even in a virtual setting. I use CBT techniques to assist clients in identifying and addressing any distorted beliefs that may be affecting their well-being. This integrated approach is designed to foster self-awareness and empower clients to manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors more effectively, enhancing their overall mental and emotional wellness through the online platform.

What tools do you teach in online therapy?

In online therapy, clients are guided in utilizing the CBT triangle to uncover underlying beliefs that impact their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Once these beliefs are identified, clients can focus on reframing and distancing themselves from unproductive beliefs. The goal is to help clients develop a more positive belief system that contributes to their overall well-being, all within the convenience and comfort that the online therapy setting can provide.

How do you know when a client is making meaningful progress in online therapy?

In online therapy, progress is evident when clients become more aware of their unhelpful beliefs and transition from a negative belief momentum to a more positive outlook. This shift involves understanding the influence of perspective and recognizing the ability to choose which perspectives to prioritize and invest energy in. This growth in self-awareness and empowerment is a key aspect of the therapeutic journey in online therapy.

What can clients do in their personal time to supplement online therapy?

Off-screen, clients can enhance their emotional management skills by practicing mindfulness and staying present with their feelings. By viewing emotions as signals that point to underlying unhelpful beliefs, clients can gain insight into their belief paradigm by writing down these unhelpful beliefs. This process enables them to work on restructuring their beliefs for improved emotional well-being and personal growth.

What should someone do to prepare for starting online therapy?

Clients preparing for online therapy intake can benefit from reflecting on their personal narratives and identifying significant moments they wish to discuss with the clinician. Additionally, researching cognitive behavioral therapy can provide valuable insights into the dynamics of personality and ego flow, enhancing their understanding and engagement in the therapeutic process. And of course, ensuring a stable internet connection ensures a smooth and uninterrupted session, making the therapeutic journey even more effective and enjoyable!

Starting Online therapy

What is online therapy?

With Thriveworks, Online therapy is an effective alternative to in-person therapy services in which a client can speak to a Thriveworks therapist remotely via online video conferencing. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person treatment, but they can also provide added benefits like reduced travel time, saving money on transportation or childcare, and increased access to care.

How does online therapy work?

Online therapy works much like traditional in-person therapy but takes place through secure video conferencing. Clients can attend Online therapy from any safe place they choose that has access to the internet, whether that be their home or another easily accessible place. Like in-person treatment, a therapist will work with their client to address their concerns, create goals, and establish an effective treatment plan.

What is the best option for online therapy?

There is no best option for online therapy—instead, it’s best to focus on finding a provider that meets your specific needs and with whom you can form a professional connection with.

Is online therapy just as effective?

Yes, online therapy is just as effetive for many clients as in-person sessions.

How long does online therapy last?

Online therapy can last for a few months to years depending on the goals and symptoms of the client. The treatment process will be unique to each client and lend itself to their specific concerns, which means that the time it takes to treat them will always be different. Timing is also up to the client themselves; they are free to stop therapy whenever they please, especially if they feel they have reached their goals and addressed their concerns.

How much does online therapy cost?

At Thriveworks, we accept most major insurance plans, allowing many clients to pay as little as $0–$50 per session with their co-pay. We also offer self-pay options for those out-of-network or without insurance. Self-pay rates for talk therapy range from $160 to $240 for intake sessions and $135 to $195 for follow-ups, depending on your state. For psychiatry services, self-pay intake sessions are $255–$375, with follow-ups ranging from $175–$300, also varying by state. More information on current self-pay costs is available on our pricing page.

Shame on Thrive works. My partner and I have been seeing a therapist and liked her. BUT both last week and this week we drove to Duluth location (35 minutes from my house), waited in the waiting room, only to find out our therapist wasn’t even there!!! Called to inquire why and basically got no reason. I received both the text message confirming my appointment and the emails. What if we were in crisis??? So disappointed with them.

Working with Eboni has truly transformed my life but also the personal love I have for myself. I’d thought I was need of therapy due to stress from my job. After a few months I realize that I was going to be tackling more than just work issues. Eboni was absolutely phenomenal in her quietness when I needed to see myself and determine the truth behind any problems I was trying to work through. I’m so much better because of it and I’m so happy that I made the decision to start. Though I still have a lot to work on;I can already see a difference and so can everyone else! Thank you Eboni!!

My counselor, Eboni, is amazing and finds different ways using different resources to help me seek better insight. She is highly recommended if you are looking for someone to deal with self-esteem and anger management issues.
