My name is Jideofor Azie. I am a compassionate mental health professional dedicated to supporting individuals through life's challenges with empathy, cultural humility, and evidence-based care. I have clinical experience working with diverse populations across a range of settings and draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and strengths-based practices to tailor care to each individual's unique needs. I typically work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, stress, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, substance use challenges, schizophrenia, ADHD, life transitions, PTSD, and relationship challenges.
As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I take a holistic, patient-centered approach to assessment, medication management, and therapy. I consider biological, psychological, and social factors to tailor care to each person. Clients can expect a collaborative, respectful approach combining medication, education, therapy, and coping strategies for well-being.
I understand that reaching out can feel like a big and sometimes uncertain step, but you don't have to navigate it alone. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported as you move toward greater balance and well-being. If you're ready to begin, I invite you to schedule an appointment—I would be honored to work alongside you.

With experience caring for adolescents and adults across diverse backgrounds, I believe that healing begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, compassion, and collaboration, allowing each client to achieve meaningful and lasting change.
Hello, I'm Christian Nwofor, PMHNP-BC, licensed in Texas. I provide psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and supportive therapy to adolescents and adults through telehealth and in-person settings. I work with individuals facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, schizophrenia, and other mood and thought disorders. Many clients come to treatment overwhelmed by stress, trauma, or life transitions—others seek greater stability, improved focus, or support in achieving their goals. My goal is to create a safe, collaborative, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and evidence-based. I combine medication management with supportive therapy and psychoeducation to help clients understand their symptoms. Child therapy, also known as counseling for kids, helps young individuals better understand and manage the challenges that affect their mental health. Common challenges amongst kids include behavioral issues, trauma, bullying, depression, and anxiety. All ages of children can attend and benefit from child therapy at Thriveworks Amarillo.
Child therapy works by using multiple techniques tailored to fit the child’s needs based on their age group, their challenges, and the severity of their challenges. It might involve play therapy for younger kids or cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, art therapy, and others for varying ages. In any case, Thriveworks child therapists in Amarillo, TX have the expertise and experience to help kids at their level.
Child therapy is a type of therapy meant for clients within a specific age group, while play therapy is an approach to therapy that helps children with self-expression and stress relief, among others. Play therapy is a technique that is often used in child therapy to help children express what’s running through their minds when they do not have the words to express their thoughts and emotions. It can get children to express what’s wrong, what might be causing unwanted behaviors, or what they might need in a way that is accessible to them so that therapists can then work to treat the issue.
It’s not always obvious when a child should see a therapist for their behavior, though in the midst of challenges like divorce, loss, bullying, and other mental health conditions, it’s often a good idea to seek it out. Common behaviors that can indicate a need for child therapy include separation anxiety, bedwetting (at inappropriate ages), and agitation/excessive irritability — especially if it reaches a point of physical violence.
Cognitive behavioral therapy at Thriveworks in Amarillo, TX is one of the best types of therapy for children. However, it can be administered in child therapy sessions in a variety of ways that are more accessible to young minds, such as play therapy.
Child therapy at Thriveworks is conducted both in person and online by video. We encourage you to choose the option that works best for you.
The length of child therapy depends on your child’s needs as well as the goals that you and their therapist might have for them. Generally, child therapy sessions will last for several months.
