Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse) is a central nervous system stimulant used to help manage common symptoms of ADHD, like difficulty focusing. It may also be used to treat binge eating disorder.
How long lisdexamfetamine, and any other medication, stays in your system depends on a variety of factors including your age and metabolism. Typically, lisdexamfetamine can treat symptoms for up to 14 hours.

Yes, lisdexamfetamine and other amphetamines are classified as federally controlled substances with a high risk for misuse and dependence. Federal and state laws govern how these medications can be prescribed and dispensed.
A lower does of lisdexamfetamine may be less effective at controlling ADHD symptoms like impulsivity, inattention, and hyperactivity. If you're concerned your dosage is not working effectively, talk with your provider. Never take more of a medication than has been prescribed to you.
The recommended dosage of lisdexamfetamine will vary from person to person, but is typically between 30 mg to 70 mg per day.
How long it takes lisdexamfetamine to work will depend on a variety of factors, including whether or not you take the medication with food. Typically, lisdexamfetamine takes between 90 minutes and two hours to begin alleviating symptoms.
