Our therapists create individualized treatment plans based on each person’s strengths and goals. We help children develop social and communication skills, support adults working on unmasking and self-acceptance, and provide practical strategies for navigating daily life with confidence.

I really like that Teresa has me self reflect when I'm looking for answers. It has become a more consistent pattern of thinking for me and has increased my confidence and understanding of myself. . . When I first started looking for a therapist I was scared. I felt isolated and my goal at the time was to decrease my anxiety and find friends. It has now been almost three years since my first session with Teresa and I have a small group of friends that I actually feel safe with. . . I also wanted to mention that in the past I had a psychiatrist/psychiatry company that I wasn't comfortable with. Teresa asked me why, and in my answer I realized I needed to seek out a new provider. I now have an ADHD diagnosis, an autism diagnosis, and a psychiatrist I am comfortable with. . . I am so grateful that I decided to make my mental health a priority because my weekly sessions with Teresa have helped me in all aspects of my life.

Autism therapy FAQs

What types of therapy approaches are available for people with autism?

While people with autism can benefit from many therapy approaches, applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy is commonly used, especially for children. The most effective approach will depend on your unique needs, presentation, and support goals.

Do I need an autism diagnosis before starting therapy?

No, you don’t need an autism diagnosis to start therapy. A diagnosis can be helpful in certain settings, like school or work, but your provider can address whatever challenges you want to focus on—whether or not you have a formal diagnosis.

Does therapy help with sensory overload, shutdowns, or meltdowns?

Yes. Therapy can help you develop tools for managing sensory overload, shutdowns, and meltdowns. Your provider can teach you distress tolerance strategies, help you modify your environment to better meet your needs, and work with you to navigate the intense emotions that can come with sensory experiences.

Should I look for a therapist trained in autism-specific approaches?

If possible, finding a provider who specializes in autism can be helpful. However, if you’re having trouble finding one near you, a provider with experience in developmental differences, neurodivergence, anxiety, social skills, or sensory processing can still offer valuable support.

How can therapy help with communication differences in families with autistic members?

Therapy can improve communication and understanding within families. Family therapy, in particular, helps each family member develop communication skills and learn how to better understand and support each other’s needs—including those of autistic family members.
