We work to create a supportive, enjoyable environment that our psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners never want to leave. As a result, they build long-standing careers here and lasting relationships with clients.

W2 employee status

We hire all of our psychiatrists and NPs as W2 Employees, which means we contribute 7.65% to your taxes for social security, disability, and Medicare — all of which you would have to pay yourself if you had your own private practice or joined a group practice as a 1099 Independent Contractor.

Guaranteed biweekly compensation

Our psychiatry team is paid biweekly for all sessions with complete notes and charge slips. This means you’re paid for your work immediately, even if it takes us months to get a complete reimbursement from insurance or collect payment from the client. Also, if you provide therapy services in an appointment, you can bill an add-on code. Add-on codes are paid at a split rate after insurance reimbursement.

We prioritize continued learning and success across the company — our providers get compliance oversight and guidance, extended education from the clinical learning team, and clear career advancement opportunities. Work-life balance

We never put our providers' health and wellness on the back burner. We encourage and empower you to find and maintain a work-life balance. Our psychiatrists and NPs make their own schedules — tell us when you’re available and we work around you. Plus, no on-call is required.

Frequently asked questions

We pay our psychiatrists and NPs flat rates, which vary by state! There is also the potential for additional income via Therapeutic Add-On Codes when appropriate at a percentage split (55% of the insurance payout). Often, we find that about 65% of sessions qualify for these codes.

We don’t want to rush your appointments — to ensure you have enough time with each client, intake appointments are scheduled for 60 minutes, while follow-up appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes.

We do not prescribe stimulants to adults aged 18 and older. In some states, we are approved to prescribe stimulants to adolescents aged 14-17 after additional training is provided. In addition, a provider may prescribe a benzodiazepine to a client on a case-by-case basis, only to provide a one-time taper, OR a one-time 14-day supply to be used as needed by the client.

Depression and anxiety make up about 60% of our patients’ diagnoses. Other common issues include adjustment disorder, trauma disorders (such as PTSD), and bipolar disorder.

Yes! If your state requires you to work with a collaborating physician, Thriveworks will connect you to an MD employed with us, and we’ll cover the cost.

Our part-time psychiatry team members work a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Absolutely! We’re proud to offer our clients convenient sessions in the evenings and on weekends.

Currently, the psychiatry program at Thriveworks is entirely remote. You are not required to come into an office.
