About Denice
I have been in the helping profession for over 25 years and have worked in many different roles during that time. I have worked with children to older adults and all ages in between. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), and have worked with those with anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, as well as Bipolar disorder. I prefer to use a client centered approach, in which we would work collaboratively to determine the best course to take in addressing your needs and concerns and helping to decrease problem symptoms.
I tend to lean towards the use of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in recognizing that the mind has a great effect on one's ability to change behaviors and habits. I also utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) in an effort to direct and inspire you to realize and bring about change in your own life.
I would be honored to help you work through what you've been carrying and find greater clarity. I bring care and understanding to everyone I work with — and I want you to know that change is possible, including changes you may not have realized you needed yet. Take the next step and schedule a session today to start taking an active role in your healing.

"I have a firm belief that none of us are perfect and as such we should continually strive to learn from our experiences and be better today than we were yesterday."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider
I became a counselor so that I could help people realize their own potential.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients that are willing to be open and address the issues that could be standing in their way.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
That once they learn the skills it is up to them to use those skills in everyday life.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first sessions it is important to get to know one another and feel comfortable with one another. When being vulnerable with another person, it is important that you have trust in one another.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
That everyone has the ability to change if they want to and work towards change.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I have a knowledge of several different theories and techniques and work with the client to figure out which one they would be most comfortable with using on a regular basis.
