I have been working with Cindy for years and always leave our sessions light hearted and grounded. She affirms where I am and gives options of where to go next, with a great sense of humor and many wise words. I am so grateful to work with her and continue to grow into a better more authentic version of myself, with her support.

I appreciate my counselor for approaching my grief in the way she is and at the level that I am able to cope with it and not pushing me any faster or harder than she is, it's going....

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have always been great at listening to people and looking at things from a variety of viewpoints. It made sense to use those skills in a more refined way to help people thrive.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I love working with adults and families. I do enjoy some interactions with highly motivated teens. Clients who are willing to assess their own needs and work to understand their behaviors are ideal.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I have enjoyed working with nearly all of my clients. I thrive with couples and families.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish they knew that their situation is never as hopeless as it seems. So often, it is a small change or a pivot in perspective that opens up a path to radical adjustments in their lives.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I love the platform and ability to connect easily with clients. The fact that it accepts insurance and not simply self-pay was a huge plus.
What inspires you?
I enjoy seeing people gain hope in their lives. Watching people transform from hopeless to thriving never gets old.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I like to help them understand the therapy process. We talk about their needs and concerns and look at what they want to see change in their lives. It is important that they know that they are the boss and that they have full control over the therapy process.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Clearly identify the problems that they are facing and identify the how they will know when they are done with services. By then, we will have a roadmap for success.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
My job is not to tell them what to do. They will be required to do the hard work outside of session. I identify patterns, offer skills and tools, and work with them to fine tune those skills. But they will be responsible for doing the work outside of session.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I take care of my menagerie of animals. I have a cat and dog, freshwater fish, saltwater fish, and a bearded dragon. I love fostering animals until they can be adopted and I thrive on spending time with my family.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I have bleeding heart and always want everyone and everything to be happy and at their best.
Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?
I had a couple come in to session saying this was their last ditch effort before they divorced. By then end of a month, they were saying they finally had hope that they could make the marriage work and by the end of 6 months they were feeling so energized and happy to be together that they could not remember why they had be fighting to begin with.
