Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I started my journey by first becoming a teacher. When I found what I really was passionate about was helping adolescents more with life struggles rather than English, I became a counselor! I have no regrets!

What types of clients do you work with best?

I have found I work well with many different types from adolescents to older adults.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I can't say there is any one type of client I am most excited to work with. I am open to any type of client who is open to receiving help.

What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish all clients knew they have the power to be their own therapist! When our time has come to an end, I want them confident to know they can handle whatever comes next!

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

First, I researched. I saw all the comments and reviews from other therapists and clients and found Thriveworks offers the best flexibility for clients along with the best ongoing training to make sure its clinicians have access to the latest research-based techniques. I love learning, so having opportunities to be the best clinician I can be is important to me.

What inspires you?

I find inspiration in so many things! I am a reader, so I find inspiration in the books I read. I also find inspiration in people who overcome obstacles, probably because I saw my dad overcome his paralysis and live a long, adventurous life never letting his disability overcome him.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

In a first session, one can expect a relaxed conversation about goals for therapy and how we might achieve them together.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

The main focus to a first session is finding out what a client's goal is for therapy. I want to know who they are and why they are seeking therapy along with what expectations they have.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

For me, therapy is not just once a week. I try to offer my clients different techniques to try at home, so they are always working towards his/her goal. I find practicing at home helps us reach goals faster and builds confidence!

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love spending time with my family, and I am a huge dog lover! I have six rescue puppies right now that take up most of my extra time, but they are my therapists!

What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

One thing that defines me non-professionally is that I am a mother. I absolutely LOVE being a boy-mom!
