Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Becoming a counselor was a natural choice for me as I've always been deeply intrigued by the complexities of the human mind and the emotional journeys people go through. I am passionate about helping people navigate the challenges they face in their lives and wanted to provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their feelings and challenges. I believe in the power of therapy to provide support, guidance, and empowerment for individuals seeking to improve their mental and emotional well-being.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I find that I work best with clients who are open to self-exploration and motivated to make positive changes in their lives. Clients who are ready to delve into deeper self-awareness tend to resonate well with my approach.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm genuinely excited to work with clients who are willing to embrace vulnerability and explore their emotions authentically. Clients who are eager to engage in the therapeutic process, willing to communicate openly, and committed to personal growth. Clients who are curious about their thought patterns and open to trying new strategies for personal development truly inspire me.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that seeking help through therapy is a sign of strength, not weakness. It's okay to ask for support when facing challenges, and I'm here to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for them to do so. Also, that healing is not linear. Ups and downs are a natural part of the therapeutic journey, and setbacks do not equate to failure. Progress takes time, and every step forward, no matter how small, is significant.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because of their commitment to providing high-quality mental health care and their emphasis on continuous professional development for therapists. Their focus on innovation and client-centered care aligns with my values as a therapist. Their supportive environment allows me to grow and better serve my clients.
What inspires you?
I'm inspired by witnessing the resilience, growth, and human spirit of my clients. Seeing individuals overcome challenges, develop new insights, make positive changes, and find their inner strength is a powerful reminder of the potential for growth within each person and the transformative power of therapy.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they can share their concerns and goals. I'll ask questions to better understand their situation and provide an overview of how therapy works. We'll discuss their reasons for seeking therapy and begin building a collaborative therapeutic relationship. It's also an opportunity for clients to ask questions and decide if we're a good fit.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, my goal is to create a foundation of trust and understanding. I aim to create a safe space where clients feel comfortable, heard, and valued while exploring their immediate concerns. Additionally, we'll begin to outline their goals for therapy and discuss how we can work together to achieve them.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Before scheduling a session, clients should know that I am committed to their well-being and growth; I bring a holistic approach to therapy, valuing their individuality and experiences. I'm committed to fostering a space that encourages self-discovery and provides support. I'm here to provide guidance and sometimes challenge beliefs and perspectives as they navigate their lives and work towards positive change.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time in nature, reading, practicing mindfulness, and spending time with loved ones. Also, playing chess, guitar, and with my dog. These activities help me unwind and stay grounded outside of my professional role.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing that defines me outside of my professional role is my love for exploring different cultures and music. My passion for music has always been a creative outlet that allows me to connect with my emotions and express myself in a unique way.
