Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Life comes with a lot of struggles and challenges that are not always easy to deal with on our own. This is something I realized as I was trying to decide what I wanted to do to help other people. I wanted to become a counselor because I know that sometimes things can be had to handle, and I wanted to be that helping hand.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are open and have the desire for change.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with anyone who is able to take that first scary step to seek out counseling. That bravery alone is what makes me excited to work with someone.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that: Change takes time. As much as I wish it were true, there is no magical cure or instant fix for the struggles many clients are experiencing. This means it's important to be kind to yourself and to celebrate the small changes when engaging in counseling.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks impressed me with its dedication to a positive experience for both client and clinician. I made the decision to work with them so that I could have ALL the tools to help provide my clients with a safe and supportive environment.
What inspires you?
There are many things that inspire me, so I'll have to narrow it down a bit. But what most inspires me is the bravery and resilience of the people I get to meet as a counselor and the positive change that I get the privilege of witnessing in my clients.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Our first session will be the most formal out of all of our sessions! This doesn't mean it will be stiff, however, there will be a lot of background questions and general guidelines/expectations that we will have to go over in our first session. This is also a time where you can ask any questions that you have for me as well.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
My main goal for our first session is to get to know who you are and what you are struggling with. I also, want to help you get to know me so we can begin the process of building a trusting therapeutic alliance.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Clients should know that I will do everything I can to provide a safe and comfortable space for them. I won't force you to discuss something you are not yet comfortable disclosing; however, I will be there to support until you do become comfortable.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I have a range of things I like to do for fun in my free time! I enjoy reading, writing, coloring, video games, and spending time with my cats and family.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing that defines me in my personal life is the dedication that I have to my loved ones. It can be hard with how busy things get sometimes, but I will always do my make time for those who are important to me if I/m needed.
