About Amanda
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) currently seeing clients in Virginia and Washington. I started my career in 2020 and have experience working with adolescents and adults seeking help with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, loss, mood disorders, stress management, and substance use. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Missouri Western State University in my hometown of Saint Joseph, Missouri, and my Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Radford University in Radford, Virginia.
In my practice, I use person-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused approaches, with the understanding that each person’s experiences are unique. I strive to work collaboratively with my clients, creating a personalized environment that feels comfortable and supportive.
Building trusting relationships is central to my practice. I work to provide a safe, open, and collaborative space where clients can set and achieve meaningful goals.

"When faced with trying to find a therapist of my own, I was met with the reality that it is not "one size fits all" and have done my best in creating an open and accepting approach to anyone who is seeking my care with the understanding that if I am not it, we can still work together towards a better impact."

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a counselor after seeking counseling myself and not getting the help I needed. I was motivated to find a way to help people in a variety of different ways so other don't have to experience the same thing I did.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work well with individuals who are motivated to make a change and willing to be open-minded to finding solutions for their problems.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I am excited to work with those who are going through changes, whether it's mental health or everyday life, and need help adjusting to a different lifestyle.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
During our first session, prepare for a lot of personal questions right off the bat. It's important to get a large view of who the client is and what they have experienced in order to set up for the best treatment I can offer.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that finding the perfect counselor for them is a lot like shopping for a car, not everyone is fit for the first one they come across.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I am someone who is unapologetically myself and loves to encourage others to be themselves as well.
