About Susan
Susan Landers is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 26 years of experience in the mental health field. She is passionate about helping individuals, couples, adults, adolescents, and preteens find their inner voice and learn how to express their unique selves, both as individuals and as couples. Susan specializes in helping those with trauma, grief, depression, and other life problems, including anxiety.
Susan completed her Master of Science in Counseling at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Susan is passionate about helping others heal themselves and uses a therapeutic style, which is a mixture of person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and solution-centered styles, all tailored to her client's individual needs.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have a overwhelming desire to help others, especially those in emotional pain.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Men, women, adolescents and preteens who are ready to make positive changes and improve their lives and relationships.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
That they have the power to make positive and meaningful changes in their lives.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks is a national company which has an excellent reputation in the mental health field. They stress teamwork, which I really enjoy, and provide an array of services with many different mental health providers.
What inspires you?
Getting up each morning and spending time in my garden with my fur babies. I have always found inspiration in nature and look forward to starting my day this way.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A compassionate person who wants to explore what their current struggles are.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
To get to know them and give them the opportunity to get to know me. Also, to begin to identify and discuss what they want help with.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I am a very calm, gentle and non-judgmental person who has been helping adults, adolescents and preteens for over 25 years.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to spend time with my family, garden, hike and take photographs.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I do not give up when life becomes difficult.
