About Nicole
My name is Nicole Sharp and am a Bryan/ College Station native. I went to Texas A&M University for my undergraduate and received a BA in Psychology. I then attended the University of Houston- Clear Lake for my MA in Marriage and Family (Systems Theory) therapy. I work with clients from 6 years old to older people dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, personal growth, loss and grief, stress, codependency, women's issues, relational challenges. From a systems approach, I help clients also address any systematic (work, family, cultural, socioeconomic systems) they attribute to them feeling "stuck" in old patterns and behaviors.
My approach is very collaborative. My clients are the experts of their lives. I am just the tour guide helping them navigate where they want to go. I adapt Cognitive Behavioral therapy, psychoeducation and other training to best adapt and help each adult and teen client. With children, play, games and storytelling are often used.
You are the expert of the life that you have lived. If you are ready to take the next step in your wholeness and healing journey, I would love to partner alongside you. "Every great journey starts with a single step" - Maya Angelou.

"As someone who has gone through a wide range of trauma and stress in my own life, it is my goal to empower and help others in their personal growth and healing. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
The reason why I became a counselor is my innate desire to help people. I feel like I would not be the person I am today without people coming into my life that help boost me up and motivate me to be better and do better. It's my heart to do the same thing for other people.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with people who are open to learning and who have the desire and motivation to change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
The healing process is not complicated, but it is hard. Although it is hard, the freedom gained by healing is worth it.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
I think it is just important to get to know each other, to learn to trust. I want to learn what your goals are- what do you want out of counseling? What are your strengths and what are the challenges that you are facing?
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Each person is the expert of their own being. Each person has strengths and abilities. Every person has challenges that they face. Each of us have at one point (and normally often) in our life used unhealthy ways of adapting to deal with those struggles.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
By getting to know each person. By getting to know each persontheir personality, what is important to them, their goals are, and their challenges, I can tailor therapy to each person.
