About Keely

My name is Keely C. Black. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor currently practicing in the state of Texas. I earned my Masters degree from the University of New Orleans. I have worked with adolescents, adults, and geriatrics for over 20 years. I have also been successful working with the LGBTQ+ communities. I use an integrated approach to counseling (which includes PersonCentered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and CBT). Moreover, I am passionate about supporting clients through challenges such as anxiety, burnout, self-esteem, trauma, and relationship concerns while helping them reconnect with their strengths and goals.

Person-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) are powerful, evidence-based frameworks. Person-Centered builds self-worth through empathy, MI resolves ambivalence and builds the drive for change, and CBT provides the practical tools to actively modify negative thoughts and behaviors.

You don’t have to navigate a troubled journey alone, I am here to help. Wherever you are right now, your experiences matter, and there is a safe, welcoming space waiting for you. I invite you to take a gentle step forward today by scheduling an appointment with me. We can explore your path at a pace that feels completely right for you.

Get to know Keely

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I realized that counseling would allow me to combine my compassion for others with my desire to make a meaningful difference in other people's lives.

What types of clients do you work best with?

Adults, geriatrics, and LGBTQIA+.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish clients knew that they do not have to have all the answers before starting therapy. It's ok to be confused.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

A supportive and collaborative process focused on building trust and understanding each clients' unique experiences, concerns, and goals.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

A deep belief in the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of connection, empathy and authenticity. I believe that every individual has inherit strengths and the compacity for growth, even during life's most difficult seasons.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I work collaboratively with clients to understand what is most important to them and develop a therapeutic plan that reflects their individual needs and circumstances.
