Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I honestly feel that I was a counselor from a very young age I just had not identified it or understood it. Consequently, as I got older I saw it as a calling in my life and I attended seminary school to gain professional experience and hear the voice of God in this area of my life.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I work with all clients, however, I love to work with those who are ready and willing to put the work in for a change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients know and understand that "change" does not happen overnight, but it is a process that requires commitment and consistency.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks to be an asset to the organization and to help individuals overcome their life challenges for more positive outcomes.
What inspires you?
I think what inspires me most is the ability to listen to the issues of others and help clients develop everyday coping skills that will ultimately help an individual self-regulate and maintain or find meaning and purpose.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session, we will discuss client needs, review psychosocial and family history and talk about the counseling process, treatment planning, and expectations.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
The first session will be to establish rapport, better understand the client's needs and provide feedback to the client.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
The client should know that I am easygoing, teachable, open-minded, and non-judgmental.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
For fun I like fishing, cooking, watching movies, and spending time with family.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
The one thing that defines me is kindness. I believe that when you are kind to others it creates an atmosphere for change.
