About Janet
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over ten years of experience supporting adults through mood disorders, addiction, and life challenges. I began my career as a chemical dependency counselor and now specialize in helping clients build coping skills that support lasting growth and change.
I earned my Master’s in Rehabilitative Counseling from the University of North Texas. I use cognitive behavioral therapy and rational emotive behavior therapy to tailor care to each client’s needs. I focus on creating a collaborative space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported while working toward their goals.
I understand how important it is to have someone in your corner who listens without judgment. My goal as your counselor is to help you succeed and feel supported every step of the way. You can expect me to be attentive, compassionate, and committed to helping you achieve meaningful progress.

"I’m here to understand you better and help identify the treatment goals you want to pursue."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor because I found my niche in helping others evolve and grow. It gives me satisfaction to be a part of someone's journey in finding their way to a positive lifestyle and improved mental health.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with adult clients navigating mood-related challenges, including depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I’m excited to work with clients who are motivated to make meaningful changes and open to learning and growing as they navigate their path toward a more fulfilling life.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that they already have the strength and capacity within themselves to create a better, more fulfilling life.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to start practicing at Thriveworks because they care about not only the clients we serve but their employees as well. It is important to take care of your staff in order for your staff to take care of others.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by having an overall healthy lifestyle as much as possible. I create this for myself by working out regularly and taking time for myself to enjoy the little things in life. This includes the people I surround myself with as well as the quiet moments I have to myself.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
The first session is an opportunity for me to understand what you want to work on and to begin identifying the steps we can take to move you toward your goals. It’s also a time to explore both the barriers you face and the strengths you can draw on to improve your situation.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want the first session to focus on learning about you and your history. This will allow us to move forward into the next sessions with a good idea of where we need to go together.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
You should know that I’m direct and honest, but I also appreciate humor when it feels right. I believe in helping people discover joy in their lives, even during challenging times.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy working out, spending time with my daughter, spending time with friends, and listening to local bands in my area.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am a mother and that has defined me in a lot of ways. It has changed me into being more empathetic towards others and has softened me as an individual. It has been one of my greatest strengths in this life.
