About Hunter
In his 20 years of experience, Licensed Professional Counselor Dr. Hunter Kennedy has practiced in many mental and behavioral health settings including hospital, residential, and outpatient. He has helped a diverse population of clients develop skills and aptitudes to deal with a wide range of issues including distorted thoughts, thinking errors, and trauma. In the past decade, Dr. Hunter’s research on levels of consciousness has allowed him to develop a protocol to enhance individual awareness. He has appeared as a specialist on TV and radio programs and has been published in psychological journals.
Dr. Kennedy has a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Sam Houston State University as well as a Doctorate in Psychology from Purdue University. Dr. Kennedy utilizes rational emotive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and cognitive and narrative therapies to help clients facilitate transformational experiences.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
We may not be able to control events, people and problems that arise in our lives, but we can control how we handle them and the impact we allow them to have upon us.

What inspires you?
To help others grow and move forward toward the best version of themself.

To create a strategy that outlines the issues at hand, the desired outcome and the plan to get there.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to understand the specific events and situations that are blocking personal growth and fulfillment and determine the desired outcome and a mutually agreed upon plan to achieve success.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
That it is a collaborative process. I am there to help you achieve your goals and I am open to the path you feel gets you to where you want to go.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I play golf, it is a great metaphor for life. There are good days and bad days and always leaves room to improve.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I believe that life has given me a lot of challenges, which have taught me acceptance, appreciation and how to go with the flow.
