Dr. Geraldine Hickerson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 16 years of experience working with teens, adults, and seniors. She specializes in treating PTSD, mood disorders, stress, women's issues, substance use, panic disorder, anger, behavior issues, trauma, and more.
Dr. Hickerson obtained her Master's degree in Social Work from Spalding University in her Doctorate of Social Work from Capella University. She has a strong interest in helping people reach their mental health and life goals and in sessions, utilizes cognitive reprocessing therapy (CPT), faith-based therapy (FBT), family systems therapy (FST), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), solutions-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and much more.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I became a counselor because I genuinely love people and enjoy helping others. I am able to for rapport and trust with others quickly and this inspired me to choose a field that would require me to be in a hr Helping profession.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with most clients and do my best work with those over the age of 18.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Women and geriatric population.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That they are capable of attaining a balanced mental health state and they have a purpose in life.

Establish rapport and trust.

To relax and focus and to trust me as their guide. I want them to know that they can trust me with their care.
