Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I decided to become a counselor because I have personally experienced the challenges of anxiety and depression. These experiences gave me a deep understanding of the impact these conditions can have on one's life. I wanted to use my own journey towards healing and self-discovery to help others who are struggling with similar issues.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are struggling with depression and anxiety. Though I have experience working with individuals who have schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, suicidal thoughts, self-harm tendencies, relationship problems, stress, trauma, substance abuse, and borderline personality disorder.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who are motivated to take the next steps and make a change in their lives. It's incredibly inspiring to work with individuals who genuinely want to change their situation and are prepared to put in the work to make it happen.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Therapy is a journey filled with twists and turns. It's not a straightforward path where every day is smooth sailing. There will be moments of progress and setbacks, both good and bad days. Remember, experiencing setbacks doesn't mean that therapy isn't working for you. Don't feel discouraged because these ups and downs are integral to the therapeutic process. Embrace them as part of your growth!
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I decided to pursue my practice at Thriveworks due to the strong alignment of their values with my own as a therapist. Ensuring high-quality care for clients holds great significance to me, and Thriveworks excels in delivering just that.
What inspires you?
The bravery displayed by my clients never fails to inspire me. Taking that initial leap towards self-improvement requires immense courage. Witnessing their transformation and journey of growth and healing is an awe-inspiring experience.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect their first session to be a collaborative and exploratory experience. During this session, we will spend time getting to know each other, discussing what issues you would like to work on, and setting goals for therapy. This session will also provide an opportunity for you to share what you're expecting out of therapy, as well as to ask any questions you may have.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to establish clear goals, build a strong rapport, and provide a framework that serves as a solid foundation for the rest of the therapeutic journey.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I'm mindful of what you're comfortable with and what you're not and I will never push you into speaking about something before you're ready to. This journey is all about you and I'm here to support and help you in any way that I can.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love going for walks with my fur babies, playing video games, and spending quality time with family and friends.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My willingness to learn and try out new things. I've always been big on not limiting yourself to your comfort zone and I try to utilize that in every aspect of my life.
