I’m Cortney Warren, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas. My professional background includes private practice and community-based counseling with children, teens, and adults. My lived experience with trauma and ADHD informs the compassion I bring to this work, and I use cognitive behavioral therapy alongside a collaborative approach tailored to each client. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, anger management, relationship challenges, and life transitions. With children and teens, I help build emotional regulation and coping skills. With adults, I support relationship dynamics.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your needs. I draw from multiple therapeutic approaches to help you understand patterns, process difficult experiences, and build practical skills for change. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, anger management, and relationship challenges. You can expect a supportive space.
You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin therapy. Wherever you are right now, I’ll meet you with compassion and work alongside you at a pace that feels manageable. When you feel ready, I invite you to schedule an appointment so we can begin working toward the changes you want for yourself.

"My own lived experience with trauma and ADHD shapes the compassion I bring to therapy and my belief that you deserve to feel understood as a whole person."
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
My own experiences with trauma and ADHD helped me understand how meaningful it is to feel heard, understood, and supported. I became a counselor because I wanted to offer that kind of connection to others while helping them build practical skills, recognize their strengths, and make changes that matter to them.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish every client knew that you don’t have to earn support by reaching a breaking point, and having a difficult day doesn’t erase the progress you’ve made—healing takes time, and you deserve compassion throughout the process.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other, talking about what brought you to therapy, and exploring what you hope to gain. I’ll ask about your background, current challenges, and strengths, and you’ll have space to ask questions and share at your own pace. In the early sessions, we’ll build trust, set goals together, and begin exploring practical tools to help with what feels most pressing. You don’t need to prepare a perfect explanation or share everything at once.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I start by listening to your experiences, strengths, preferences, and goals rather than assuming what will work for you. I draw from different therapeutic approaches and adapt our pace, conversations, and activities to your age, comfort level, and everyday challenges. We’ll regularly check in about what feels helpful and adjust together so therapy stays relevant to your needs.
