Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have been fortunate enough to understand and love myself all my life. Knowing that there are people that do not have this same clarity, naturally made me want to assist them. Becoming a therapist seemed like the best way for me to help.
What types of clients do you work with best?
The clients that are ready to make a change, even if they are not sure what exactly needs to change but being willing to reflect and want to be a better version of themself.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I love the variety of clients that I see from their ages to their presenting concerns, however my teenagers hold a special place.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish clients all knew that therapy is a process. Even if you are making steps forward they may not feel like a lot of progress but it is and it cannot be rushed.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks has therapists and other employees that genuinely care about people and do not only view therapy as a business.
What inspires you?
Knowing that by just listening and being the caring person that I have always been, I could help another person who is struggling.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
During our first session we have to get the business part done, all the background and history, but after that we will have a conversation about you. Questions like, what are your interests, what do you do for self-care, do you hate your job?
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
When you leave our first session, I want you to feel like you found a safe person. Know that there is no judgement in the room and that my purpose during our time together is to assist you in making the changes you need to feel better.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I do not get uncomfortable from you sharing your story or whatever you need to discuss. Our time together is focused on you and whatever you need that will benefit you.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I am not a talkative person when not with clients, so when I have free time I like to relax by reading, watching a show, or going to the movie theater. I am currently locked into Asian dramas and it is all I watch.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I love to laugh and can typically find some humor in most situations, which is also a coping mechanism.
