Get to know Amy

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I became a counselor to assist people with navigating life challenges and achieving their goals. Everyone experiences ups and downs in life and does their best with the tools they have at that time. I want to help people gain new tools or improve on existing ones. I believe everyone has inherent strengths and my goal is to show clients how to utilize them for a better quality of life.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work with all clients at different stages of change. I believe in meeting people where they are at and hoping to assist them in discovering where they would like to be.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I want all clients to know that everyone experiences life differently. We all have challenges and asking for help is one of the most difficult things we can do. It takes courage and should never be viewed as a weakness.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by seeing people achieve their goals and recognizing their potential.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

In their first session, I like to get acquainted and learn more about what brought them to counseling and what they hope to gain from our time together.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

In a first session, I hope to learn about their lived experiences, their strengths, goals, and what they want to be different in their life.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

I am easy-going, non-judgmental, and treat everyone with respect and have a genuine interest in learning how I can best assist them.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy reading, cooking, traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with my family.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

My curiosity and thirst for knowledge. I believe in learning something new every day.
