Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I know what it feels like to feel stuck or simply desire better for yourself. I decided to become a counselor, because I have witnessed the tremendous positive impact of having an avenue to openly discuss one's feelings, concerns, and desires. I believe that healing can start from that first step of talking to the right person, and I want to offer a listening ear in a safe and therapeutic atmosphere to people struggling to find their way through life.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are open to being honest with themselves and with me, and also open and ready to explore what change could look like for them.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with clients who feels comfortable opening up with me. I am most excited to work with children and pre-teens, as well as adults desiring to develop coping skills to better manage stress and life transitions.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I want all clients to know that although they are their own unique self, they are not alone in what they're experiencing. I want them to know that by simply considering therapy, they are already on their way to change.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thrive works, because Thrive works offers me the opportunity to be available in-person or virtually, as both avenues have the potential to meet the diverse needs of clients.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by family, faith, and people who are not afraid to acknowledge their weaknesses, while also walking in their strengths.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect the first session be focused on me getting to know them more in a comfortable, less stimulating environment, and warm atmosphere
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to develop a good knowledge of the individual's reason or why for seeking therapy, and what they hope to get out of our working therapeutic relationship.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I am a good listener, and I value offering a welcoming environment with minimal external stimulation to avoid feeling overwhelmed. I want my clients to feel seen and heard.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy exercising, spending time with family, gardening, crocheting, reading a good book with lots of plot twists, and binge watching a good mystery/thriller TV-show
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)
My Christian faith is important to me, and it helps me daily to approach everyone from a place of kindness and empathy, despite their own faith or non-faith based beliefs. I value kindness and recognize that no one is perfect, and mistakes can be forgiven.
