Get to know Alec

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I have always wanted to put my communication and people skills into a field where I can help people. I hope to help others overcome challenges, find inner peace, and create spaces to allow for people to heal from past traumas.

What types of clients do you work with best?

The clients that I work best with are open and receptive to change and take the steps needed to put the changes into action. I am drawn to building relationships with clients who welcome a warm and gentle approach. I also find that it's helpful when clients welcome the challenge of implementing the changes they would like to see in their lives.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am most excited to work with kids, adolescents, and young adults.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Therapy is a space not just to heal but to have fun, build trust, and learn.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I practice at Thriveworks because they adhere to a good work ethic. This combined with their community involvement and interest in helping others was a good fit for me. Their commitment to excellence resonated with me and is in line with my personal approach to treatment.

What inspires you?

My inspiration is to provide a safe space where everyone feels welcome to express their true selves.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

A welcoming and supportive session dedicated to exploring your thoughts and concerns, with the aim of fostering a clearer understanding of the therapeutic process and identifying your personal goals.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

As your therapist, I would like to explore what your personal goals for therapy are. I would also like to discuss what you are currently struggling with and how you hope to see change in yourself.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

My approach is compassionate, supportive, and respectful. I am comfortable engaging in difficult conversations and providing a safe space to address challenges, all with the goal of helping you achieve your objectives.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy spending time hiking with my dog and creating opportunities for meaningful connections, such as hosting dinner parties, participating in community events, and engaging in social gatherings. Additionally, I appreciate attending concerts and music festivals, as well as maintaining an active lifestyle.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

My strong interest and commitment to creating an environment where others feel supported and welcomed.
