Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I became a counselor because I believed I could empathize and help people based on my past struggles with addiction and trauma. I genuinely care about people. When I was in need, social workers helped me. I want to pay it forward.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
That they are in charge of their lives and minds. Their self-talk can make or break them. Self-talk is powerful. Our brain is a computer, it will believe and act according to what we tell it. This can be a very good thing or a very bad thing.
What inspires you?
I'm inspired by nature. I feel more spiritually connected to nature. I enjoy reading and listening to new-age thinkers such as Eckhart Tolle and Deepak Chopra. Exercise, family, travel, learning, and music are some things that inspire me.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect to feel understood and hopeful about developing valuable life strategies.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to develop a foundation for building trust and sharing with the client. The relationship is the most important part of the therapeutic relationship.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I believe everybody has a right to live their best lives and has the answers within. Humor is important. I will use it sometimes. Hopefully, that is okay. I believe change is possible and that we were not put on this planet to be miserable
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy jogging on trails-almost any exercise-Exercise helps me cope and have energy.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I'm family oriented.
