Get to know Lee

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I wanted to become a counselor, because I love working with people helping them to discover who they are, more importantly, helping them develop skills to create themselves the way they want to be. All my life people have confided in me, and shared vulnerable parts of themselves with me. I found the love of working with others and I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with those who want to learn how to walk life. I by no means have the answers. You do. I’m just here to help you find them.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I’m excited to work with those who survived, trauma, and those who want to make positive changes in their lives.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

You never fail, your plans fail. Make a new plan. If you really want to accomplish something you can. It may require sacrifice, a lot of work, and building a developing new skills. But it can be done.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

Thriveworks provides a great balance of accessibility and availability. We are easy to work with and with genuinely want to help our clients.

What inspires you?

The wind blowing through the autumn leaves. The sound of a rushing creek. And my wife and daughter.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

The first step to making change in one’s life is to define the change you want to make, and then change the way you look at the world. We always start there.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

That is up to the client. I hope to set a foundation from which the client can make the changes they won in their life.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

We are going to work. To make changes in your life you have to change something. You will start making small changes day one.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love reading. I’m a fan of the outdoors, playing chess and taking naps.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

My family. And my insatiable curiosity.
