About Barbara
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have spent several years in acute and rehab hospital settings, as well as a therapy practice. I have experience with all age groups, individuals, couples, and families. I have learned each of us has our own unique story and sometimes there are challenges we do not expect, or we realize we want to take the next chapter in a different direction. I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges with compassion, clarity and confidence.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths based. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychoeducation are some of the therapy approaches we may use, depending upon individual needs.
Whether you are coping with anxiety, adjusting to a life change such as divorce or a health condition, or working through trauma or grief, I am here to help you learn new coping skills and strengthen your resilience. Healing begins in a safe and supportive environment, where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. Let's get started!

"My own life experiences as well as my experience working in hospitals has helped me to have tremendous variety with many different age groups and populations, and I will be your personal coach to help you obtain your goals. "
Get to know Barbara
Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a therapist because I felt people were not feeling heard, lacked coping skills, and often times had difficulty expressing themselves in a healthy way. I enjoy helping people learn strategies to enjoy their life.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I feel I work well with all age groups, especially those who are willing to put in the efforts to make changes.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Change takes time and effort. Learning new skills and techniques becomes easier the more you do it. It takes work, and the reward is worth it!
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
It may feel like I am asking a lot of questions as I get to know you. It is to help me better understand you and your history, and how you would like to see your future. It is helpful to know techniques you have tried and if they have or have not worked.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My experiences as a mother, and a caregiver to my own mother during her illness have taught me compassion and patience. Working in our healthcare system has opened my eyes to the disparities individuals experience. This attributes to my passion for everyone to be treated with compassion, dignity, and respect.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I learn where my client is coming from, meet them where they are at, and get an understanding of where they want to be/want to accomplish. How the goal is accomplished is up to each individual, and I offer support and suggestions in a safe space.
