About Tara Marie
I am a licensed independent social worker in clinical practice (LISW-CP) with 26 years of experience supporting individuals across the lifespan. I specialize in helping clients navigate life transitions, grief, chronic illness, and aging-related challenges. My background includes work in acute care, long-term care, and outpatient behavioral health settings, with a particular passion for supporting older adults in achieving emotional well-being and resilience.
I earned my master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University. My approach integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, strength-based therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I am also trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, and tailor treatment to meet each client’s unique needs.
I provide a supportive, collaborative space where you can explore your experiences, strengthen coping skills, and rediscover meaning and purpose. Together, we will build on your life experiences and strengths to foster growth, resilience, and dignity at every stage of life.

"As a therapist, I strive to meet the needs of the individual, promoting their mental health, well-being, and overall quality of life."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have a deep-seated desire to help others navigate life's challenges, a passion for mental health advocacy, and a drive to empower individuals through difficult,,, life-altering moments. My career is fueled by the need to provide a non-judgmental, safe, and supportive space that fosters healing and growth.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work with all kinds of clients with all sorts of different presenting problems. Ideal clients, for me, are clients who are ready to work. together, and begin to feel more at home within yourself and within your relationships.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
If this is your first experience with therapy, you might feel a bit nervous or apprehensive. This is
normal! Beginning therapy means different things to different people, but it’s often an act of
courage, hope, self-care, and self-determination. Therapy is a process that allows you the freedom and privacy to discuss issues that are often painful or difficult to discuss with loved ones. In the process of our work together, you can begin to feel more at home within yourself and within your relationships.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
You may have questions. Perhaps you’ve heard or believe some of the myths about therapy or
counseling, such as “It means something is wrong with you,” or, “Just don’t think about ____
and you’ll be fine,” or, “Just get over it already!” Know that nothing is “wrong” with you and
avoiding problems usually makes them bigger over time. We all benefit from having someone to
share our feelings with to help us make sense of life.
You have made an important choice for yourself—stepping into the process of exploring what is
stressful, painful, or upsetting. In our sessions you will have a private space to think out loud
and make connections between your past, present, and important relationships.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I center on creating a safe, ethical, and effective therapeutic alliance through empathy, unconditional positive regard, and trustworthiness. Key, actionable values include maintaining strict confidentiality, practicing cultural humility, fostering client autonomy, and demonstrating genuineness. These core principles ensure you will feel heard, respected, and empowered.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I adapt my therapeutic approach to meet the needs of the individual by identifying their unique challenges and strengths, promoting their mental health, wellbeing, and overall quality of life. You can ask any question and tell me anything that’s on your mind. You can expect me to be
kind to you and listen to your perspectives. The first step is to create a trusting environment. I’m
happy you have made the decision to work with me.
