About Jannette
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 5 years of experience. I specialize in family and child development and clinical mental health counseling. I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges. My goal is to help clients find clarity, healing, and balance as they move toward living the life they want to create.
I earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from South University. I use a collaborative, compassionate approach that integrates evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. Together, we identify strengths, process challenges, and build tools for lasting growth and healing.
I believe everyone deserves a safe space to be heard and supported. My goal is to walk alongside you with empathy and encouragement as you navigate life’s challenges. Healing and growth are possible, and I would be honored to support you on your journey toward balance, clarity, and renewed hope.

"As a bilingual Puerto Rican veteran and licensed professional counselor, I draw from my diverse life experiences to create a safe, empowering space where clients can heal, grow, and thrive."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor because service and healing are at the heart of who I am. As a Puerto Rican, bilingual veteran, I witnessed how life transitions, trauma, and stigma—especially in underserved and Spanish-speaking communities can keep people from the care they deserve. That experience led me to clinical training and a career focused on creating safe, culturally responsive spaces where clients feel seen and supported. I’m passionate about translating evidence-based care (CBT, ACT, and person-centered therapy) into practical tools that help people reclaim their voice, strengthen relationships, and move toward lives that feel meaningful. Walking alongside clients as they grow isn’t just my work it’s my calling.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are ready to explore new ways of understanding themselves and their relationships. Many of my clients are individuals managing anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, as well as couples and families seeking healthier communication and stronger connections. I especially enjoy working with those who value a collaborative, supportive approach and are open to learning practical tools that can create lasting change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that therapy is not about being ‘broken’ or needing to be ‘fixed’—it’s about creating space to be heard, understood, and supported. Healing is a process that takes time, patience, and practice, and every step forward, no matter how small, is meaningful progress.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, clients can expect a welcoming space where we get to know each other, explore what brings them to therapy, and begin identifying goals together. Early sessions focus on building trust, understanding your story, and developing a personalized plan so you feel supported, heard, and empowered to move forward at your own pace.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is shaped by my experiences as a bilingual Puerto Rican veteran, a parent, and someone who has witnessed the impact of trauma and resilience firsthand. These perspectives taught me the value of empathy, cultural understanding, and perseverance. I believe in meeting clients where they are, honoring their stories, and empowering them to recognize their strengths and capacity for growth.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by meeting clients where they are, listening closely to their unique story, and adapting evidence-based approaches like CBT, ACT, and person-centered therapy to fit their goals. Together, we focus on practical tools, cultural awareness, and individual strengths so each client feels supported in a way that is meaningful and effective for them.
