Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I am encouraged to be a catalyst for the kind of change I have found personally by recognizing how the quality of my own life has been enhanced by self-reflection, learning how to make meaning and grow from suffering, and coming to a deeper understanding of who I am. I want to assist and give tools to people who are ready to do the work and change their lives.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I have experience working with clients who are completely new to therapy, as well as though who have been in therapy for years. I enjoy teaching clients how to discover more about themselves, and I am excited to work with anyone who is willing to participate in the therapeutic process and challenge themselves to work toward their goals.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
"You must learn a new way to think before you can master a new way to be." -- Marianne Williamson Our thoughts shape and influence every experience we have. Once we can learn how to discern between positive and negative thought patterns, we can then begin to create a life we enjoy living, without needing to escape from it.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my free time, I enjoy reading, baking, and hiking with my favorite four legged companion Harrison.
